Easy to navigate and good for communications but needs better documentation
Pros and Cons
  • "The ability to network informally is great for communicating with colleagues."
  • "The product isn't easy to use. It's not very intuitive."

What is our primary use case?

The solution is used primarily to network. We use it for internal networking collaboration and the coordination of projects.

What is most valuable?

The ability to build what they call Campfires is very useful.

The ability to network informally is great for communicating with colleagues.

The solution is reasonably easy to navigate.

What needs improvement?

The solution isn't very transparent. There is a lack of documentation.

The product isn't easy to use. It's not very intuitive.

It's not really straightforward and we found that our rollout was not very educational in terms of how to best take advantage of it.

It doesn't lead you to where you want to get very easily. It's extremely hard to figure out.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been using the solution for about three years or so. We have some experience with it.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is pretty stable. It's worked when I needed it to. There are no bugs or glitches and the solution doesn't crash or freeze. In that sense, it's reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I can't speak to the scalability.

We're not that large as a company. I would not really be able to offer a very good answer. We're just a very small company.

We have a total of 50 users that are currently on Basecamp right now.

How are customer service and technical support?

I've never actually spoken to technical support. I can't speak to how helpful and responsive they are as I haven't directly spoken to them.

The documentation is not ideal. It's hard to find what you need and it isn't really transparent. It would be ideal if they had more information so that people could help themselves if they needed to find answers.

How was the initial setup?

I didn't really get involved with the initial setup. We were basically coming in from a user side and it was just pretty much handed to us. Therefore, I can't speak directly to the actual setup process.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I don't handle the licensing or sales side. I can't speak to what the solution costs in general or how much we pay.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I can't speak to what the team looked at. they decided on Basecamp before I worked at the company and therefore I can't say what products they considered before choosing this product or if they looked at any at all.

What other advice do I have?

We are just customers and end-users of the product.

We're using the latest version of the solution.

I'd advise a company that is considering the solution, or anything similar, to be sure that the communications and training are very robust before throwing the users into the fray.

In general, I would rate the solution at a six out of ten. If it was more intuitive I might give it a higher mark.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
