We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

"It's always stable. It's very good, useful, and user-friendly.""It has simple buying options and deployments. You can buy on-cloud, on-premises, or hybrid solutions. Acronis Backup is very easy to deploy. It also does not consume much hardware. The administrator's tasks are very simple. It is very user friendly, and it also has good security features with low-level encryption and data encryption.""It's a good solution that's very easy to use. Acronis has two valuable features. The first one is creating images, and the other is starting virtual machines in the cloud so the client can work immediately.""It actually does its job very well and has interesting capabilities, but it has the most awful interface.""The main reasons that our customers like Acronis are that it is very strong and easy to use.""For local backups, it has options to back up almost any storage. The back can be either a shared folder or anything you want, it's pretty flexible.""The image backup and image restore features have been very beneficial to us.""This is a full software so deployment time is very quick."

More Acronis Backup Pros »

"We are satisfied with Arcserve UDP. The most important feature that we use and why we choose this product is the RHA feature.""I would recommend it if there is a general case.""There are many backup options available in this solution. For example, you are able to do backups of servers, email, OST files, and users. This is a complete backup solution which is very good.""The most valuable feature is the duplication.""One of the things that I do like about it is that it has a very good deduplication feature."

More Arcserve UDP Pros »

"When you are using enterprise hardware and software that increases over time, there need to be better and more management features. For pure backup software, it is fine, but when it comes to managing a large infrastructure it is lacking.""For smaller companies it's a little more challenging to maintain.""I would like to have more cybersecurity integration to properly round up the product and its offering. In terms of cybersecurity, if the offerings can be more versatile so that it is not just a backup solution, it would be great. Some addition to cybersecurity would really be helpful so that it becomes a kind of a suite of products. Backup and recovery form a part of the broader security strategy. Its integration with other cybersecurity solutions would provide proper visibility to not just your cybersecurity dashboard but also to all of your backups. You would have a pretty good view of the entire security landscape that you are managing.""There are some limitations to the backup.""It would be better if they made it easier to obtain images for laptops and desktops. It isn't easy right now to have many different types of desktop computers. This is because Microsoft is changing a lot of things in Windows 10.""The backing up of virtual machines in VMware and Nutanix needs better integration and the performance of the solution needs improvement.""When an error occurs, the information is not always easy to understand and these messages should be made more clear.""It supports Microsoft SQL and Microsoft Exchange, but it does not support Oracle databases or Postgres."

More Acronis Backup Cons »

"Based on my experience, whenever we need support, there are difficulties with communication when trying to resolve the issue.""We could not go into granular details of retrieving backup information.""Arcserve UDP is in the middle range of complexity. The interface can be developed a little bit more to be user-friendly.""The speed of restores should be improved. We have found the speed of large restores rather slow.""The solution can use a lot of bandwidth when the scheduling is not done, it should auto-schedule itself. For example, if there are 50 users connected in the network at 12 o'clock and the backup is not scheduled. At this time the network offices are going to have performance issues when it is doing a backup. Having a feature to auto-schedule a time when the network is not being used often would be beneficial."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"It is very cost-effective for the SMB segment, especially for start-ups and smaller environments. It is cost-effective for on-premises and on-cloud deployments in such environments.""Its price is quite friendly on the pocket. You need to pay the licensing cost upfront, and then the support charges are on an annual basis.""The price is reasonable.""The pricing is reasonable. However, it depends on the storage that you use. It would be great to have a package that we can use up to a certain size of the backup, this would allow us to know what the price is going to be up to that capacity.""Licensing fees are billed annually and there are no extra charges.""There is a license required to use this solution and it is inexpensive. However, it is an old license.""We were on a perpetual license for Acronis Backup.""There is a license required for this solution and it can be on a monthly basis."

More Acronis Backup Pricing and Cost Advice »

"The retail fee is $1300 for a year for one server. Other than that, there is just the cost of your hardware.""There is an annual license required for this solution and it is priced well.""The price of this product is high and it should be lower.""The solution is priced well compared to other solutions.""The pricing is moderate."

I agree with @Syed Abid Hussain

Arcserve is a true DR / Ransomware enabled solution for all businesses and when compared apples to apples to other solutions, very affordable.  It is available in cloud, hybrid cloud and appliance, your choice.  Use the cloud solution and keep what you have if you like, or replace it all with ARCSERVE.

Is it good? I think it is underrated personally. Arcserve just received PC Editors choice, which isn't too shabby.  I've worked with Arcserve for a while and it is a "SET AND FORGET" solution when configured properly. I also know many who use it who only have issues due to misconfiguring the software. Never place it directly on your domain is a starter suggestion.

Arcserve gives you:

  • Global deduplication

  • Direct-to-cloud backup

  • WAN-optimized replication

  • Agentless backup for VMware and Hyper-V

  • Backup of CIFS/NFS

  • Cross-platform Virtual Standby and Recovery

  • P2P, P2V, V2P and V2V migration

    What doesn't Acronis do?

  • It does not have integrated DR and backup appliances,

  • Not secured from ransomware and malware (Arcserve uses SOPHOS)

  • Limited to no tape support for devices

  • No agentless Nutanix AHV backup and support of Nutanix Objects

  • No support for Solaris / IBM AIX / HP-UX / FreeBSD / IBM System z

  • No SLA/RTO/RPO reports

  • Doe not have continuous availability and CDP

  • No Email archiving

So it truly depends upon what you are really looking for in a solution. I hope this helps.

Acronis is good but with very limited features also expensive.

Arcserve has more features like Integrated DR, ransomware security, malware detection. different backups support, multiple hardware support. Also, pricing is lower than Acronis.

if you need just backup service Acronis is good while Arcserve UDP is a full-fledged complete suite for small, medium & large-scale businesses.
