Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The most valuable feature is the fact that it backs up my systems transparently in the background, and I'm not even conscious of it.""The main reasons that our customers like Acronis are that it is very strong and easy to use.""It's a good solution that's very easy to use. Acronis has two valuable features. The first one is creating images, and the other is starting virtual machines in the cloud so the client can work immediately.""Our customers can backup to local storage and they can back up or replicate to the cloud.""The administration is pretty flexible in terms of defining a multi-tenant type of setup.""It actually does its job very well and has interesting capabilities, but it has the most awful interface.""For my first experience, it is the best software for backups, especially for a five-system backup.""Acronis is a flexible solution. It can back up workstations, endpoints, and even your virtual environments and cloud-based environments. So, we can do the backup of the whole gamut of products."

"Veeam is very user-friendly and intuitive software.""Veeam helps to create a stable environment with virtual servers.""If you have windows machine at home and you'd like a backup, you can always download their free edition and plug in an external hard disk, and do a full backup of your laptop.""We found the initial setup to be quite simple.""Solution provides good security.""This is a reliable system that supports Veeam backup and recovery for Windows.""The solution is useful for taking backups for end-user laptops and end-user workstations where data is involved.""The initial setup is very straightforward."

Cons
"The biggest problem that we have is when the antivirus is installed, the whole machine runs very slowly and some of the machines hang.""The solution could be better if some of the features were more in-depth.""When an error occurs, the information is not always easy to understand and these messages should be made more clear.""In the span of six months, maintenance is done at least twice and you are told that it is coming up, with apologies for the inconvenience. It's a distraction, and it interferes with the backup schedule.""The backing up of virtual machines in VMware and Nutanix needs better integration and the performance of the solution needs improvement.""When I first started using Acronis, I found it a little bit confusing when it came to the configuration.""The problems that we face are often related to the customer's network, although sometimes there are problems with the software, such as an error in the configuration.""It supports Microsoft SQL and Microsoft Exchange, but it does not support Oracle databases or Postgres."

"The solution lacks instant recovery.""I can't think of anything that may be missing.""I would like to see the capability for remote installation of third party applications added( Like installing WinRar MS Office etc..) , and Firewall for servers.""The support could be improved a lot, as it is currently non-existent.""In the next release, I would like to see it easier to implement.""If you are doing an AIX backup then you have to use the CLI because it doesn't appear on the console, the way that Windows and Linux jobs do.""There really are no cons. The product simply has to maintain development to keep up with changes in the operating system.""A feature I would like to see is universal restore. At the moment, restoration can only be smooth on the same hardware. Let's say you have a server and you back it up with Veeam Agent, in case it fails or crashes. If you later buy a new server because the same one isn't available on the market anymore, there's a high chance that Windows will not boot up if you restore from the Veeam backup because the hardware is now different. Acronis has the universal restore feature, so it will work with generic drivers and you can restore Windows in any dissimilar hardware. As far as I know, Veeam doesn't have this feature yet."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"The price of the solution is expensive and could be reduced a little.""The pricing is comparable to the newest solution available on the market, Altaro.""The cost of updates is less than $100 USD yearly.""You pay for what you use in the cloud. If you don't start the virtual machine in the cloud, you only pay for the information stored there. But when you start the virtual machine, another pricing model is activated.""The price is reasonable.""There is a license required to use this solution and it is inexpensive. However, it is an old license.""There is a license required for this solution and it can be on a monthly basis.""The pricing is reasonable. However, it depends on the storage that you use. It would be great to have a package that we can use up to a certain size of the backup, this would allow us to know what the price is going to be up to that capacity."

More Acronis Backup Pricing and Cost Advice »

"The solution is inexpensive, more so than other products.""We have the Community Edition and I believe we bought a license for 200 instances. Veeam Agent is mainly used for our branch offices. Those only have one or two Hyper-V servers, so it's covered with the Community Edition. Basically, it's free. I remember Veeam 7.0 or 8.0 wasn't free, but the Community Edition is.""The licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis, and the fees are much lower than what I pay for NetBackup.""The pricing is good.""The pricing model is based on CPU and must be declared as Microsoft or VMware licensing.""We have a cloud provider agreement with Veeam. We are also paying for the agent.""We have a license package."
