We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The biggest example in which OpCon has improved my organization is that we have to download and process files from the federal reserve several times a day. If we don't do it in a certain timeframe, we can be penalized. It's the fact that we can download these files, process them, get our accounting teams the information they need to work the exceptions that is one of the most important roles.""It allows us to organize everything into a process flow throughout the day for our different tasks that we have to run. So, it keeps everything organized. It is easy to monitor and adjust, if we need to.""Having the jobs laid out while attaching dependencies is a nice addition to the program.""The solution has freed up employees to do more meaningful work as a result of automation. They don't have to sit there and wait for files to download. They don't have to stare at the screen while a process is running. It all runs in the background, doing it for them.""It allows batch work to run as smoothly and efficiently as possible.""When a lot of jobs are scheduled on different platforms, without any interaction possible between them, it's very difficult to manage things. With OpCon we avoid this difficulty. It's very visual.""We have found it scales very well. We run thousands of thousands of jobs every day, and sometimes thousands of jobs in a few hours.""The stability of this solution is awesome. It's the only product I've ever seen that you can actually build to fix itself if it has a problem. You'll build something and, if you find an issue, you can say, 'Hey, if this happens again, do this to correct it.'"

More OpCon Pros »

"It integrates well with the CICD pipeline.""The Zero Upgrade feature is the most valuable.""The monitoring and troubleshooting features are rich and with the dashboards and other features, automation work is made easier.""The most valuable features are its robustness, it's highly scalable, and it's easy to implement.""Both the stability and the scalability of Automic Workload Automation are great.""It has its own object-oriented scripting language and you can reload your object in many different places."

More Automic Workload Automation Pros »

"AutoSys Workload Automation is a stable solution.""Easy configuration and integration with SAP.""This solution has made my clients' workplaces a lot less labor-intensive.""The features that I have found most valuable with AutoSys are that it is scalable, easy to use, fast, and always available. That's very important because if it's not steady then it's a real problem. So, at this point, we are satisfied with it.""The most valuable feature of this solution is the functions are easy to use."

Cons
"I think that they're working on this, but I wish that there was a more centralized area to be able to see what other people are doing... They have a community platform for OpCon users, but I want to see more of where somebody is doing this process in that way. They have a great community platform right now, but I feel that it could be developed.""It would be great if you could create physically separate "clients," as I call them. I wish I could have a production client and a testing client and that they would be separate.""Licensing would be the first part I would overhaul. Each time a new licensing paradigm comes out, more features are removed and costs are added. They "add" features that are rarely used and increase charges for the number of jobs run. I'm sure someone in finance got a raise for their brilliance but the end-users won't thank them one bit. Expect price hikes and threats when you hold them to account at every opportunity.""We would like a display of the created date, created by, and last modified date, as well as modified by.""Some additional logging-information reporting would also help. They have all the information there but you still have to search around and look back. It's not right there for you, where you click and can get the reporting. You have to know the system and do some additional searches. So reporting is another area that they can build on by simplifying it.""We have not explored the possibility, but one of the areas for improvement would be more integration into Active Directory, to where it could do the creation of user accounts and the additional work to integrate third-party systems into payroll systems.""It's not something you can just quickly grab, try, run, and play with. You have to get the knowledge and train yourself. It was easy for me, but I also took the time to throw myself into it. There is a learning curve to a certain extent. You have to learn the rules.""We are still in the early stages of our implementation, so at this point, I cannot see any needed improvements or features."

More OpCon Cons »

"In most of the packages available, it took time to study and gain knowledge of the features and resources due to poor documentation.""The vendor support is really bad and should be improved.""Its dashboard can be improved. In version 12, they have already moved to a web-based interface from a UI. We are looking into this feature now. We are also looking for available APIs that we can use to interface the engine into our other systems. There should be a subservice facility that we can use to interface with Microsoft Teams and send out authorization on job executions. We have seen a feature like this in other products that we are looking into.""This solution's out-of-box automation sets could be improved. They could be industry standardized out-of-box, or even runbook automation processes could be useful—just some plug-and-play automation processes out-of-box. It has many integration capabilities, from APIs to databases, but if the customer sees some out-of-box automation processes in it, it could be useful.""There are some monitoring features that could be added.""We would like a way to test our cloud-based automations on-premises, and then migrate them to the cloud after they have been tested, without needing an additional license."

More Automic Workload Automation Cons »

"Quick search feature and job analysis could be improved.""The graphical interface can be improved.""The solution could improve by having support for container environments.""In terms of what should be in the next release, I want integration and AI and so on. I'd like easy reporting where you can compare information, for example, "that job normally takes three minutes and last time it took six minutes or 10 minutes." Then you can get the information to the engineer of which job is taking more time than normal - understanding strange behavior compared to the baseline."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"There are different add-ons, like the Self Service or Vision model. It all depends on what agents you have in your environment. We have a mainframe and Windows, and while I think SQL is free, SAP or anything beyond that has different connectors that might need a license.""It's definitely worth the cost.""Our licensing is on a yearly basis.""We currently renewed with one of their new technology bundles. It's around $36,000 annually. We run a query of our SQL in our SQL database to see how many jobs we run. They're charging us per usage and whatever add-ons you want to use with OpCon.""SMA is big on free training. They do monthly training down at their headquarter office. As long as you own the product, the only thing you pay for is your employees' travel expenses. The training is free. They are willing to train people and give them the knowledge. That way, you are equipped to do what you need to do.""Compared to AutoSys and ISE, OpCon was a lot cheaper to put in. AutoSys is hundreds of thousands of dollars to just install it because they don't have an interface into our system. You have to teach them what your system does.""This solution is slightly more expensive than our previous solution. Right now, we are paying about $40,000 a year. However, we think it's well worth the cost to keep things automated, reducing our staff.""On a yearly basis our cost is between $25,000 and $30,000."

"There are different licensing fees for cases where high availability is important.""It costs too much. That's why we are now looking at other products.""They have changed the pricing on their licensing, and it's cheaper than before.""There are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."

"The price of this solution is reasonable and there is an annual license required.""The pricing needs to be improved. Some of my client's complained that it was too expensive."
