Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"It works great and it provides you with several standard tools to restore your backup, even after a big failure.""Bacula is pretty stable.""The most valuable features are the special plugins such as SAP HANA databases, Microsoft SQL, and various types of virtualization."

"If you have a large enough storage capacity then you can take an ample amount of data.""The initial setup is one of the most user-friendly B2B user solutions. It's good, it's easy. Deployment usually takes less than one day. You only need one person for deployment and maintenance.""The hardware is strong and all the equipment has a good infrastructure. Personally, I think it's the best storage product in HPE for small to medium-sized businesses.""Deduplication is the most valuable feature.""The most valuable features are the deduplication and compression capabilities.""Deduplication and compression are in a good ratio. It supports the HPE Catalyst protocol, which is much faster than NFS and other protocols. We use CommVault and Veeam, and these two solutions support the Catalyst protocol very well and are integrated at high speed. It is faster than normal access."

Cons
"Easier setup and configuration, perhaps including a GUI, would be an improvement.""We are looking for a unique interface that can rule both enterprise and open source editions. Such a thing does not yet exist.""Bacula needs a graphical user interface because, for administrators, the command-line interface is okay, but for the average user it is not very easy."

More Bacula Enterprise Cons »

"HPE StoreOnce should come with a detailed installation guide.""The web interface, ease of use, and GUI all need to be improved.""Cloud integration needs to be simplified.""The solution should continue to refine its integration capabilities. I also see they are starting to use cloud integration as well, which is good, but they should do more to integrate with it.""The GUI and its user-friendliness have some room for improvement.""When it comes to upgrading, it always goes block-wise. One block is 48 TB raw capacity. It would be good if they can include a smaller capacity for SMB customers. Currently, it is not possible to increase in a smaller capacity. You have to buy the exact same unit. It would be great if they can provide a smaller next block. There are around 20 hard disks, and it would be really helpful if we can add 10 hard disks initially and 10 hard disks later."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"We have a perpetual license.""This is an open-source solution."

"We have got a perpetual license, and we have access to all the features. If you are using cloud banks, you can store the internal data in HPE Cloud if needed. You can offload the data to the HPE Cloud. It is a licensed product. We have got around 10 TB of cloud bank storage with a one-time payment. We specifically took 10 TB for very critical offsite backups. We can also increase it in blocks if needed.""The cost of HPE StoreOnce is very expensive.""Price-wise, it comes with a high price tag when compared to other products."
