Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Technical support handled all our issues quickly and effectively.""Easy verification of things is the most valuable feature.""The Granular Restore of SQL feature has been a lifesaver more times than I can count. One of the main reasons for looking at Carbonite was their support for platforms like AIX and AS/400 Series.""It seems reliable and easy to use.""It does not slow down your computer or use a lot of resources as it works."

"Its ability to restore at the item level is very valuable. It is very strong at that. In the past, we had to restore a lot of data only for a couple of items. We can now restore an item as well as an email, which is good for productivity.""One of the main features of the solution is it is easy to use.""The support offered by both Veeam and our third party supplier is excellent.""The most valuable feature is the integration with our Teams environment.""We are able to store it on various cloud providers such as Amazon S3, Rocket, Azure, and IBM Cloud. It can also do on-premise integration, and we are able to use storage from on-premise. We are also able to recover data. It is a really good and intuitive solution. Veeam has developed a fantastic product. I've never seen anything that I don't like about Veeam. It looks like a very complete solution. It is really mature, simple to use, and quite interrogative. It also has APIs for writing scripts.""I want an additional copy of my data in the Office cloud and it works.""The feature that I like the most is the system backup recovery from OneDrive.""Veeam Backup gives you the option to backup your data from the cloud to on-premises."

Cons
"They do not yet have USB recovery but they are adding it in coming releases.""The only thing that I would like to see improved is related to marketing. Currently, it is very difficult to find the right paper and stuff for me. Their marketing department should provide better information because currently, it is very difficult to find information on the internet. It was bought over by OpenText, and you won't be able to find a lot of information about this solution on their site. They should also provide training facilities for commercial purposes. Some of my colleagues recently went for pilot training, and they were technical. If I want to get trained, the training has to be more commercial. Currently, there is no such training for users like me.""The support for object storage isn't quite there yet. Its public cloud support can be improved. I would love to see the public cloud support for object storage, and it would be great, but what I always hear from the folks at Carbonite is that in a lot of cases, it directly competes with their cloud offering. So, I don't know when or where that will go or if that will go anywhere, but we are hopeful to see something. The dashboard is a little outdated. If they gave it a facelift and put some better design around their dashboard, that would be tremendous. I generally care less about the visual aesthetics of an application as long as it does what it needed to do, which is true in the case of this solution. We also have the Microsoft 365 platform. Because they're two separate platforms, I have to log in to my Microsoft platform to manage it, and I have to log into my Carbonite server backup platform to manage it. Having these two coexist together in one management console is really what we're looking for, but we went for it knowing this. We also knew that there would be some integration coming down the road. So, we're again hoping to see some of that coming in 2021."

"The solution should have backup integration features, not just concerning mail but also when it comes to such solutions as SharePoint.""We would like to have a single management console for all of our backups.""Veeam's performance is inconsistent.""The license pricing can be reduced.""The documentation for the installation is good. However, if you are new to the environment the installation could be difficult. The first time we did it it took approximately four days.""When you are working in the Cloud security is very important.""The solution could offer better reporting.""They don't have native integration with deduplication of storage."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The pricing is between $120 and $150 per year."
  • "Its price is reasonable."
  • More Carbonite Server Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The pricing model makes this solution more expensive than it needs to be."
  • "This is not a stand-alone product and requires a standard Veeam license for your organization in addition to the cost of the solution."
  • "We looked at a few cloud options. When we did the comparison, we found it to be a cost-effective solution, and it included everything."
  • "The licensing price is quite high. It's expensive."
  • "We decided on Altaro because, from the point of view of the total cost, Altaro looks cheaper than Veeam. Veeam has a lot of costs that are not clear when you start it, which makes it less flexible than Altaro, but only after half a year, you can be really sure that you made a good decision."
  • "Its price is a little bit high, but it is a fantastic solution. It is more expensive than NetApp."
  • "I have a per-user license for the number of users and the mailboxes that I have."
  • "There is a license required for this solution and we pay annually."
