We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"There are no issues that we are aware of. It does its job silently in the background.""One of the most valuable features of Firepower 7.0 is the "live log" type feature called Unified Event Viewer. That view has been really good in helping me get to data faster, decreasing the amount of time it takes to find information, and allowing me to fix problems faster. I've found that to be incredibly valuable because it's a lot easier to get to some points of data now.""You do not have to do everything through a command line which makes it a lot easier to apply rules.""Firepower has been used for quite a few enterprise clients. Most of our clients are Fortune 500 and Firepower is used to improve their end to end firewall functionality.""If configured, Firepower provides us with application visibility and control.""I like the firewall features, Snort, and the Intrusion Prevention System (IPS).""Feature-wise, we mostly use IPS because it is a security requirement to protect against attacks from outside and inside. This is where IPS helps us out a bunch.""The most valuable features of this solution are the integrations and IPS throughput."

"I like the solution's configuration, interfaces, and user guides.""The stability is better than other products.""This product has kept us safe and we haven't had any breaches.""The DPI-SSL is the solution's most valuable aspect. It's handy.""Easy to setup and implement""Support has improved dramatically since their separation from Dell.""The solution has many useful features, such as content management, user management, user filtering, and domain controller connectivity mapping.""Compared to Cisco, SonicWall NSa is much easier to configure."

Cons
"The visibility for VPN is one big part. The policy administration could be improved in terms of customizations and flexibility for changing it to our needs.""The change-deployment time can always be improved. Even at 50 seconds, it's longer than some of its competitors. I would challenge Cisco to continue to improve in that area.""One feature I would like to see, that Firepower doesn't have, is email security. Perhaps in the future, Cisco will integrate Cisco Umbrella with Firepower. I don't see why we should have to pay for two separate products when both could be integrated in one box.""The product line does not address the SMB market as it is supposed to do. Cisco already has an on-premises sandbox solution.""My team tells me that other solutions such as Fortinet and Palo Alto are easier to implement.""The performance should be improved.""I believe that the current feature set of the device is very good and the only thing that Cisco should work on is improving the user experience with the device.""FirePOWER does a good job when it comes to providing us with visibility into threats, but I would like to see a more proactive stance to it."

"The pricing for this product in India is high and the fees should be reduced.""You can do zero-trust networking with them, but it's not easy.""The implementation for VLANs is a little bit cumbersome. It would be good to make that a little bit easier.""It doesn't require much improvement. The only improvement area is that cloud reporting, assessment reporting, and other reporting features should be available with the subscription. They should provide reporting features with the subscription base, which is currently not there. We bought the reporting tool, but there are some complications. They have made some changes to the application, and now the reporting management is completely on the cloud.""Do not even consider NetExtender - probably one of the most horrific, nightmare grade Java-based VPN clients. We have but all given up trying to make it work reliably.""The content ID needs to be improved.""The logging, reporting, and storage capacity size could improve in a future release.""The reporting and monitoring are a bit complex and should be easier in SonicWall NSa because other firewalls I have experienced have been more simple, such as Palo Alto. We are able to receive a clear view of our network. As a general user with little experience, it would be difficult for them to handle."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"This solution is expensive and other solutions, such as FortiGate, are cheaper.""The price of Firepower is not bad compared to other products.""I know that licensing for some of the advanced solutions, like Intrusion Prevention and Secure Malware Analytics, are nominal costs.""This product requires licenses for advanced features including Snort, IPS, and malware detection.""For me, personally, as an individual, Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall is expensive.""The solution was chosen because of its price compared to other similar solutions.""When we are fighting against other competitors for customers, whether it is a small or big business, we feel very comfortable with the price that Firepower has today.""The price for Firepower is more expensive than FortiGate. The licensing is very complex. We usually ask for help from Solutel because of its complexity. I have a Cisco account where I can download the VPN client, then connect. Instead, I create an issue with Solutel, then Solutel solves the case."

"While I don't know the exact amount off the top of my head, I would estimate the licensing package was about $15,000 to $20,000 a year.""The pricing is good and we are satisfied with the cost of this solution.""Its price is okay.""You need their analyzer to properly generate reports. This is an expensive, licensed feature, with a complex application or appliance back-end.""When implemented properly, the total cost of operation is very low.""They do have the option to purchase yearly, or two years, and three years renewal.""Licensed features provide application control, content filtering, antivirus, and anti-malware all in a single appliance.""A firewall doing anti-spam might be a low cost solution, but it is not your best strategy."
