We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The customer service/technical support is very good with this solution.""The most valuable features of this solution are the integrations and IPS throughput.""The feature set is fine and is rarely a problem.""Firepower has been used for quite a few enterprise clients. Most of our clients are Fortune 500 and Firepower is used to improve their end to end firewall functionality.""They wanted to leverage something which is equivalent that can give them the next gen features like application awareness and intrusion protection. So that is a major reason they were looking forward to this. The original ASA firewall did not have these features. This was the major reason the customer moved on to Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD). Now they can go ahead and leverage those functionalities.""One of the most valuable features is the AMP. It's very good and very reliable when it comes to malicious activities, websites, and viruses.""We have not had to deal with stability issues.""If you compare the ASA and the FirePOWER, the best feature with FirePOWER is easy to use GUI. It has most of the same functionality in the Next-Generation FirePOWER, such as IPS, IPS policies, security intelligence, and integration and identification of all the devices or hardware you have in your network. Additionally, this solution is user-friendly."

"One of the valuable features of the solution is its flexibility and it performs great.""One of the main features is that the hardware is extremely reliable.""It covers everything we need it to without looking to secondary solutions.""The hardware is pretty stable. It's also a very good product performance-wise. Initially, it wasn't mature like a firewall and there were other leaders, but now they have included almost all the features of next-generation security. Basically, it's a good product to work with.""What I have used the most and received the most benefit from is the IPsec technology.""The product is easy to use.""Cisco is head-and-shoulders above all of the competition when it comes to technical support.""Cisco has always been a premium product. There's a lot of other entry-level solutions. This is more robust."

"Juniper is one of the most powerful network security solutions while remaining simple to use, set up, and scale.""It is very fast and very easy to maintain. Another nice part of it is that you can easily extract the logs and move them over to a security operations center.""The scalability is fine.""Great as an inter-segmentation firewall or border or arch-firewall.""The CLI works perfectly.""The firewall features and the routing capability are the most valuable.""It's fine, and it's good. It's very stable.""One of Juniper SRX's most valuable features is the site-to-site VPN."

Cons
"On the VPN side, Firepower could be better. It needs more monitoring on VPNs. Right now, it's not that good. You can set up a VPN in Firepower, but you can't monitor it.""The central management tool is not comfortable to use. You need to have a specific skill set. This is an important improvement for management because I would like to log into Firepower, see the dashboard, and generate a real-time report, then I question my team.""Cisco makes horrible UIs, so the interface is something that should be improved.""In a future release, it would be ideal if they could offer an open interface to other security products so that we could easily connect to our own open industry standard.""Deploying configurations takes longer than it should.""It would be great if some of the load times were faster.""The visibility for VPN is one big part. The policy administration could be improved in terms of customizations and flexibility for changing it to our needs.""FirePOWER does a good job when it comes to providing us with visibility into threats, but I would like to see a more proactive stance to it."

More Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall Cons »

"It would be ideal if the solution had more capacity.""I think they should bring back remote VPN for users.""There could be a bit more functions on offer that could make it easier to use.""The company needs to make its solution more affordable to make it more accessible to larger markets. Otherwise, it's seen as an enterprise-level solution that small or medium-sized organizations can't afford and therefore they won't even look at it.""Signatures and other critical definitions need to be updated more frequently.""With respect to user-friendliness, it is a command-line interface and those with such experience will get along just fine, whereas others may struggle.""The configuration should be easier in the solution.""The user interface needs to be improved."

More Cisco IOS Security Cons »

"Juniper SRX is stable, but it could improve. FortiGate has better stability than Juniper SRX.""The user interface and the GUI need improvement.""Ongoing costs are something that we need to manage and make sure that we're getting value on.""The reporting is lacking.""Their models for service providers could improve.""In the future, I would like to see the UI more responsive""The capacity can be limiting. We have outgrown its capacity. You can only scale up to a certain extent, depending on the device purchased.""It must be 5G ready. The 5G network is rolling out soon in India, and Juniper must upgrade their firewall slot to the 5G network, or they must manufacture a 5G dongle card for the Juniper firewall. I want Juniper to upgrade their dongle from 4G to 5G. Presently, they have an expansion slot in the SRX 322 series and higher firewalls. In that expansion slot, they can put a 4G mobility SIM card so that whenever our primary link is down, it will automatically connect through this GSM network and form a tunnel."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"This product is expensive.""This product requires licenses for advanced features including Snort, IPS, and malware detection.""Pricing is the same as other competitors. It is comparable. The licensing has gotten better. It has been easier with Smart Licensing.""Cisco is not for a small mom-and-pop shop because of the cost, but if you're in a regulated industry where a breach could cost you a million dollars, it's a bargain.""Cisco, as we all know, is expensive, but for the money you are paying, you know that you are also getting top-notch documentation as well as support if needed.""The price is comparable.""I am happy with the product in general, including the pricing.""For me, personally, as an individual, Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall is expensive."

More Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall Pricing and Cost Advice »

"It is necessary to pay for a license in order to use the solution. It is on a yearly basis and the price is high.""Palo Alto networks are more expensive than this solution and this is why you will see more products like this one in Mexico.""The pricing is okay. It is competitive. It costs more when you need get more features.""The price of the solution should be cheaper, and the license is purchase annually.""It is an expensive solution.""Price is certainly something that the IOS technology has fallen behind the competition on."

More Cisco IOS Security Pricing and Cost Advice »

"It is best suited to an enterprise-level, as the mid-range companies may find that the cost is not affordable.""There is a licensing fee.""Compared to other vendors, the pricing of this solution is good.""The price is reasonable.""Its price is reasonable. In India, most of the products have a similar price. There is only a 5% to 10% variation in the price of different brands.""When you consider performance, price, and features, maybe Juniper is not so cost-effective compared to other solutions like MikroTik.""The product itself is costly and the price of migration is very high.""This is an expensive product."
