Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I have compared Dell EMC to other solutions and have found it to be good. The SAN and LAN traffic, manageability, and upgradability are all good.""The solution integrated well.""The solution is made with high-quality hardware."

"I like that it's suitable for virtualization. It's also stable and scalable. The newer version has a lot of memory, and you don't have to worry about updates.""The solution is built very well. It's very robust and durable.""For me, this is the best frame server technology available in the market. We can compare it to Cisco UCS. It is robust and stable, and it is also easy to deploy and scale. Their support is the best.""The product enables the centralization of all administrative tasks.""In terms of the productivity of our deployment team, the amount of time has been decreased a lot. In the past, to deploy one c7000 chassis with 15 or 16 blades, we literally used to spend two to three weeks. But with a Synergy, it's very quick. Within three days we can do the deployment.""We've found the scalability to be reasonable if you are ready to invest in it.""The stability of the solution is very reliable.""Its versatility, performance, and size are most valuable. It is very decent for its size. It has very good performance and very good specifications."

Cons
"The set up is complex""In terms of improvement, it should also offer a hyper-converged option.""We have had some issues with the vendor's support that we have received. When you open up a support case with Dell they send a partner to assist you and in our experience, they are lacking knowledge about the solution. There are times when you need professional support from the vendor that knows the solution well."

"I would definitely like to see them fix the firmware updates on all the blades. No matter what operating system it is running on, make sure I can do the firmware as well as the software for those firmware components at the same time. I don't want to have to rely on an external product. Let's bring that product inside the menu so that I have a better experience with updates.""Changes to the solution are quite complex.""ICMs could be better in this model. When you look at its competitors, the most critical point is the throughput. HPE is the best with the ICM module, which is an interconnect module that connects the servers of the frames to the LAN and SAN. HPE Synergy should also support the latest processors provided by Intel.""The performance could be better. The converged network cards initially didn't work. However, later on in the newer version, they came up with 50 GB network cards to replace the 20 GB ones, and it's perfectly fine now. At times, it could also be more stable.""The profiles aren't so easy to work with.""It would be nice if the updates were not accompanied by downtime.""The Synergy platform is HPE-specific and more for on-premises. You're kind of locked in with VMware and the HPE with the VMs. The Nutanix offering is a bit more flexible.""Technical support was time consuming and unsatisfactory. The initial product setup was complex, lasing around three weeks to a month."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "If we would not have gone with the vendor we might have been charged unnecessarily for packages we did not need."
  • "Dell PowerEdge M price is comparable to other solutions but cheaper than IBM. However, the IBM solution is a higher grade solution whereas Dell PowerEdge M is a medium-level solution."
  • More Dell PowerEdge M Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "We are satisfied with its price."
  • "We have already paid once. It is just the price for the permit and its use. It seems you don't have to keep paying for it, but I am not sure."
  • "We don't have to pay for Synergy because it's part of our plan."
