We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"When it comes to the integration among Cisco tools, we find it easy. It's a very practical integration with other components as well.""The feature set is fine and is rarely a problem.""The dashboard is the most important thing. It provides good visibility and makes management easy. Firepower also provides us with good application visibility and control.""The most valuable feature is stability.""It is one of the fastest solutions, if not the fastest, in the security technology space. This gives us peace of mind knowing that as soon as a new attack comes online that we will be protected in short order. From that perspective, no one really comes close now to Firepower, which is hugely valuable to us from an upcoming new attack prevention perspective.""The implementation is pretty straightforward.""Firepower NGFW has improved my organization in several ways. Before, we were trying to stamp out security threats and issues, it was a one-off type of way to attack it. I spent a lot of manpower trying to track down the individual issues or flare-ups that we would see. With Cisco's Firepower Management, we're able to have that push up to basically one monitor and one UI and be able to track that and stop threats immediately. It also gives us a little more granularity on what those threats might be.""The most valuable feature that Cisco Firepower NGFW provides for us is the Intrusion policy."

"It is a scalable product. I know a customer who has deployed more than 4,000 firewalls in a single deployment.""The most valuable feature is the console management.""The feature that we like the most about Forcepoint is that we know the technology and have confidence in it. We can have several functionalities to simplify operations and management. We can combine functionalities like log ownership to review the number of devices in the infrastructure.""The most valuable feature is SD-WAN.""I like the Firewall and the IPS.""Forcepoint is a complete package because it has network and systems applications. Other firewalls are only for the network.""It is a stable solution, and there are no issues so far.""When comparing this solution to others this one has better reporting, user management, and is easy to use."

"Technical support is perfect.""It is very fast and very easy to maintain. Another nice part of it is that you can easily extract the logs and move them over to a security operations center.""Performance is a strong point.""The IPSec configuration is going well.""The GUI is simple to use.""I like the Junos OS, which has been very good for me. It's very clever.""I have used technical support quite a bit, and they are really good.""You can scale the solution."

Cons
"They need a VTI. I know it's going to be available in the next software version, which is the 6.7 version. However, the problem with that is that the 6.7 is going to deprecate all the older IKEv1 deployment tunnels. Therefore, the problem is that we have a lot of customers which are using older encryptions. If I do that, update it, it's not going to work for me.""Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall can be more secure.""The Firepower FTD code is missing some old ASA firewalls codes. It's a small thing. But Firepower software isn't missing things that are essential, anymore.""My team tells me that other solutions such as Fortinet and Palo Alto are easier to implement.""The initial setup could be simplified, as it can be complex for new users.""We cannot have virtual domains, which we can create with FortiGate. This is something they should add in the future. Additionally, there is a connection limit and the FMC could improve.""I would like it to have faster deployment times. A typical deployment could take two to three minutes. Sometimes, it depends on the situation. It is better than it was in the past, but it could always use improvement.""The initial setup can be a bit complex for those unfamiliar with the solution."

"The company should update the URL filtering database. They need to enhance the URL filtering and make it easier to customize.""The ability to dynamically change policies could be improved.""Making this solution easier to use would be an improvement.""Something that I've noticed that Forcepoint lacks, is the training that they offer to their end-customers""Forcepoint is a little difficult to configure compared to its competitors.""Management could be better. They can improve the management. I think all our customers can't accept firewalls that have standalone management. So, they prefer Fortinet or Palo Alto. But overall, inspection and other features are working fine.""My team is looking for more throughput and better integration with our security framework.""They need to work on stability, it has not been the best in our experience."

More Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall Cons »

"While the GUI is pretty good on the Juniper side, there can still be tweaks made to it that will make it even better.""Sometimes committing configurations takes a lot of time in Juniper because of the connections, and it could be a little bit faster.""The solution isn't very granular or detailed.""The interface could be more user-friendly.""Their models for service providers could improve.""The capacity can be limiting. We have outgrown its capacity. You can only scale up to a certain extent, depending on the device purchased.""I've noticed that the management interface could use some updates and upgrades.""In the future, I would like to see the UI more responsive"

Pricing and Cost Advice
"Its price is in the middle range. Both Firepower and FortiGate are not cheap. Palo Alto and Check Point are the cheapest ones. I don't remember any costs in addition to the standard licensing fees.""I know that licensing for some of the advanced solutions, like Intrusion Prevention and Secure Malware Analytics, are nominal costs.""When we are fighting against other competitors for customers, whether it is a small or big business, we feel very comfortable with the price that Firepower has today.""Pricing is the same as other competitors. It is comparable. The licensing has gotten better. It has been easier with Smart Licensing.""I like the Smart Licensing, because it is more dynamic and easier to keep track of where you are at. If we have a high availability firewall pair and they are deployed in active/standby rather than active/active, I would expect that we would only pay for one set of licenses because you are using only one firewall at any one time. The other is there just for resiliency. The licensing, from a Firepower perspective, still requires you to have two licenses, even if the firewalls are in active/standby, which means that you pay for the two licenses, even though you might only be using one firewall any one time. This is probably not the best way to do it and doesn't represent the best value for money. This could be looked at to see if it could be done in a fairer way.""The price of Firepower is not bad compared to other products.""This product requires licenses for advanced features including Snort, IPS, and malware detection.""Cisco is not for a small mom-and-pop shop because of the cost, but if you're in a regulated industry where a breach could cost you a million dollars, it's a bargain."

More Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall Pricing and Cost Advice »

"The pricing should be more competitive against other vendors in the market.""Everything in Forcepoint comes with an individual license, which is kind of a problem. In our last meeting, they said that it may change at the beginning of 2021, and they will try to merge some licenses together. Customers will get more features than what they got previously. We will wait and see.""The training that they offer to their end-customers. It's quite expensive, I believe it costs roughly $11,000""The pricing of the solution is normally competitive with other products.""It could be cheaper like Fortinet.""Forcepoint is very expensive but it's really secure.""The cost is fair, but it could be improved.""We have found the price could be reduced. It is a little expensive."

More Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall Pricing and Cost Advice »

"The price is reasonable.""This is an expensive product.""Compared to other vendors, the pricing of this solution is good.""It is best suited to an enterprise-level, as the mid-range companies may find that the cost is not affordable.""When you consider performance, price, and features, maybe Juniper is not so cost-effective compared to other solutions like MikroTik.""Its price is reasonable. In India, most of the products have a similar price. There is only a 5% to 10% variation in the price of different brands.""In general, their price definitely couldn't be cheaper.""The product itself is costly and the price of migration is very high."
