We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"It is one of the fastest solutions, if not the fastest, in the security technology space. This gives us peace of mind knowing that as soon as a new attack comes online that we will be protected in short order. From that perspective, no one really comes close now to Firepower, which is hugely valuable to us from an upcoming new attack prevention perspective.""There are no issues that we are aware of. It does its job silently in the background.""I have experience with URL filtering, and it is very good for URL filtering. You can filter URLs based on the categories, and it does a good job. It can also do deep packet inspection.""You do not have to do everything through a command line which makes it a lot easier to apply rules.""Being able to determine our active users vs inactive users has led us to increased productivity through visibility. Also, if an issue was happening with our throughput, then we wouldn't know without research. Now, notifications are more proactively happening.""If you compare the ASA and the FirePOWER, the best feature with FirePOWER is easy to use GUI. It has most of the same functionality in the Next-Generation FirePOWER, such as IPS, IPS policies, security intelligence, and integration and identification of all the devices or hardware you have in your network. Additionally, this solution is user-friendly.""The implementation is pretty straightforward.""I like the firewall features, Snort, and the Intrusion Prevention System (IPS)."

"I like the IPS. IPS is the master feature. I depend on the firewall and sandbox.""The most valuable feature of this solution is the support.""Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall is very simple, easy to use, and flexible.""The most valuable feature is SD-WAN.""The most valuable feature is the console management.""Technical support has been quite helpful in the past.""The blocking, based on the signal provided, is the solution's most valuable aspect.""I like the Firewall and the IPS."

"Dashboard is easy to use and the reporting offers a lot of detail.""This solution does everything and anything a firewall can do.""The solution is very easy to use and straightforward.""This is a very stable solution.""Great interface and in-built help is very intuitive.""The web application firewall reverse proxy is very good.""IPS and advanced threat protection (ATP) are the most valuable features. I am able to segment my network traffic and block incoming connections. It is also easy to use.""Sophos firewalls are scalable. They are pretty strong in security. So, when they provide any kind of firewall, they provide all the features such as anti-spam, antivirus, etc."

Cons
"Cisco makes horrible UIs, so the interface is something that should be improved.""The intelligence has room for improvement. There are some hackers that we haven't seen before and its ability to detect those types of attacks needs to be improved.""I would like to see improvement when you create policies on Snort 3 IPS on Cisco Firepower. On Snort 2, it was more like a UI page where you had some multiple choices where you could tweak your config. On Snort 3, the idea is more to build some rules on the text file or JSON file, then push it. So, I would like to see a lot of improvements here.""The initial setup could be simplified, as it can be complex for new users.""The change-deployment time can always be improved. Even at 50 seconds, it's longer than some of its competitors. I would challenge Cisco to continue to improve in that area.""The central management tool is not comfortable to use. You need to have a specific skill set. This is an important improvement for management because I would like to log into Firepower, see the dashboard, and generate a real-time report, then I question my team.""One feature I would like to see, that Firepower doesn't have, is email security. Perhaps in the future, Cisco will integrate Cisco Umbrella with Firepower. I don't see why we should have to pay for two separate products when both could be integrated in one box.""The performance should be improved."

"We feel the product's technical support could be better, as this relates to the solution itself, to the installation of the product, and to having a proper understanding of the case.""Its management center should be easier to use. The management interface of Forcepoint is unique and a little bit different from some of the firewall solutions on which people might have worked before. Sometimes, the customers say that it is not very friendly, and we help them with how to use this management interface. It just takes a little bit of time, and after some time, it gets easy to manage or use. It is quite similar to Palo Alto, Fortinet, and legacy Juniper solutions. Their support should be faster. We have received complaints that they are not responding fast, which is not good for the vendor and us.""Management could be better. They can improve the management. I think all our customers can't accept firewalls that have standalone management. So, they prefer Fortinet or Palo Alto. But overall, inspection and other features are working fine.""The ability to dynamically change policies could be improved.""My team is looking for more throughput and better integration with our security framework.""Forcepoint would be improved if there were more training available.""The solution needs to build upon its network functionality. It needs to be a bit smarter.""Making this solution easier to use would be an improvement."

More Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall Cons »

"Everything is working as expected at this moment, but the anti-spam solution in Sophos XG needs to be improved. It needs more granular features and more stability. The anti-spam solution currently doesn't have many features, and we would like to have more features. At this moment, there is no expression filter for anti-spam. We need something to be able to filter subjects or attachments in emails based on the keyword. Sometimes, there is an issue with anti-spam, and Sophos XG suddenly stops processing incoming or outgoing emails. The only solution for this issue is to restart the appliance. Their support should be improved. It takes a long time to escalate a support case from level one to level two.""I would like to see in future releases a tool to scan for malicious packets and give the location of where they are coming from.""Could have a more simplified functionality for users.""The user interface could be improved and more bandwidth management would be helpful.""The solution could be more secure.""I'd like the dashboard to be improved. It could be a bit more customizable.""Support for this product is something that is really important, and it needs to improve.""Our clients use Karios, and while it integrates well with it, the integration could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"Its pricing is good and competitive. There is a maintenance cost. It includes SecureX that makes it cost-effective as compared to the other solutions where you have to pay for XDR and SOAR capabilities.""The solution was chosen because of its price compared to other similar solutions.""For me, personally, as an individual, Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall is expensive.""I know that licensing for some of the advanced solutions, like Intrusion Prevention and Secure Malware Analytics, are nominal costs.""The price for Firepower is more expensive than FortiGate. The licensing is very complex. We usually ask for help from Solutel because of its complexity. I have a Cisco account where I can download the VPN client, then connect. Instead, I create an issue with Solutel, then Solutel solves the case.""I am happy with the product in general, including the pricing.""When we purchased the firewall, we had to take the security license for IPS, malware protection, and VPN. If we are using high availability, we have to take a license for that. We also have to pay for hardware support and technical support. Its licensing is on a yearly basis.""There are additional implementation and validation costs."

"Everything in Forcepoint comes with an individual license, which is kind of a problem. In our last meeting, they said that it may change at the beginning of 2021, and they will try to merge some licenses together. Customers will get more features than what they got previously. We will wait and see.""It is expensive.""The pricing should be more competitive against other vendors in the market.""We have found the price could be reduced. It is a little expensive.""Forcepoint is very expensive but it's really secure.""The pricing of the solution is normally competitive with other products.""The cost is fair, but it could be improved.""The training that they offer to their end-customers. It's quite expensive, I believe it costs roughly $11,000"

"Licensing fees are on a yearly basis.""It comes at a fair price as compared to some of the other products out there. Its price is in the middle. It is not the cheapest, and it is also not as expensive as Juniper, Check Point, and definitely Cisco. Nowadays, everybody is very cost-sensitive, and people don't want to spend unnecessary money, but even before that, it was a fairly priced product. You've got your choice of what license you want. There are basically two types of licenses, and it depends on what you need to do, and everything is included in that license. There is no cost for VPN and DMZ. You purchase the license, and you know upfront what you're getting or what you're not getting, and that's it. It is one license fee and done and dusted.""I paid for a license for the solution for three years costing approximately $11,000. Additionally, I received the Web Appliance fee for paying for the full licencing.""We have our license for three years.""Its price should be better. Initially, the clients have to pay for the appliance. Then, they have to pay for the software that is installed on the appliance. Depending on whether they have a one-year, two-year, or three-year license, they just have to renew the license of the software after it expires. They don't have to renew the appliance license. So, they have to pay for the appliance only once, and after that, they just renew the software license. That's all.""For our company, the price was reasonable.""The price is reasonable but it would be great if it was reduced to half the price.""It is not very expensive."
