We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The solution offers very easy configurations.""There are no issues that we are aware of. It does its job silently in the background.""It is one of the fastest solutions, if not the fastest, in the security technology space. This gives us peace of mind knowing that as soon as a new attack comes online that we will be protected in short order. From that perspective, no one really comes close now to Firepower, which is hugely valuable to us from an upcoming new attack prevention perspective.""Firepower NGFW has improved my organization in several ways. Before, we were trying to stamp out security threats and issues, it was a one-off type of way to attack it. I spent a lot of manpower trying to track down the individual issues or flare-ups that we would see. With Cisco's Firepower Management, we're able to have that push up to basically one monitor and one UI and be able to track that and stop threats immediately. It also gives us a little more granularity on what those threats might be.""I like the firewall features, Snort, and the Intrusion Prevention System (IPS).""We have not had to deal with stability issues.""The most valuable feature is stability.""The most valuable feature is the access control list (ACL)."

"The most valuable feature is the WAN optimization.""The technical support is very good.""The most valuable feature is geofencing, where we can block all access from all non-domestic locations.""The most valuable features we have found to be the VPN, ease of use, and overall simplicity.""Technical support is very helpful.""The stability of the solution is good. We haven't faced any issues at all while using the product.""It's very easy to set up, even for more junior developers.""The solution is very easy to set up. It doesn't take a lot of time and offers a quick deployment, so you can start using it almost right away."

"The solution can scale well.""This is a capable appliance and the standard features work well for us."

Cons
"Web filtering needs improvement because sometimes the URL is miscategorized.""The intelligence has room for improvement. There are some hackers that we haven't seen before and its ability to detect those types of attacks needs to be improved.""Implementations require the use of a console. It would help if the console was embedded.""There is limited data storage on the appliance itself. So, you need to ship it out elsewhere in order for you to store it. The only point of consideration is around that area, basically limited storage on the machine and appliance. Consider logging it elsewhere or pushing it out to a SIEM to get better controls and manipulation over the data to generate additional metrics and visibility.""FirePOWER does a good job when it comes to providing us with visibility into threats, but I would like to see a more proactive stance to it.""The visibility for VPN is one big part. The policy administration could be improved in terms of customizations and flexibility for changing it to our needs.""The product line does not address the SMB market as it is supposed to do. Cisco already has an on-premises sandbox solution.""The central management tool is not comfortable to use. You need to have a specific skill set. This is an important improvement for management because I would like to log into Firepower, see the dashboard, and generate a real-time report, then I question my team."

"It would be useful to have integration with different reporting tools. This is something we are sorely missing. It would be a plus to have reporting integrations. It would be good to have more integration with the identity suites, such as Office 365 and Azure Active Directory, of different providers that we use. Integrations are already available, but it would be nice to have some more advanced options.""There are certain GUI features that should be present but are not.""The price model is not transparent by any means and should be made more clear. What's included in the packages is often not very obvious.""There should be a bit more automation.""Some issues with connecting to the VPN from home after firmware updates.""It should have the SD-WAN feature. This would increase the number of features that are available in the box.""We have had some stability issues.""The solution is fairly complex."

"Sometimes it reboots when you least expect it, and that's the main issue.""Although manageable, the user interface is a little bit slow and could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"This product is expensive.""For me, personally, as an individual, Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall is expensive.""It definitely competes with the other vendors in the market.""This solution is expensive and other solutions, such as FortiGate, are cheaper.""Cisco pricing is premium. However, they gave us a 50 to 60 percent discount.""Its price is in the middle range. Both Firepower and FortiGate are not cheap. Palo Alto and Check Point are the cheapest ones. I don't remember any costs in addition to the standard licensing fees.""This product requires licenses for advanced features including Snort, IPS, and malware detection.""Its pricing is good and competitive. There is a maintenance cost. It includes SecureX that makes it cost-effective as compared to the other solutions where you have to pay for XDR and SOAR capabilities."

More Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall Pricing and Cost Advice »

"There is an annual license required to use the solution.""The cost of this product is too high.""There is a benefit in terms of the cost of using this solution because the price is very good.""With Fortinet FortiGate-VM you can bring your own licensing, or it can be paid on a yearly basis.""It's not a cheap solution but it comes with its benefits.""We pay for a yearly license.""There is no additional cost. Once you get the licensing fee, you're good.""At present, the SD-WAN licenses are on an annual basis."
