We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"I have integrated it for incidence response. If there is a security event, the Cisco firewall will automatically block the traffic, which is valuable.""There are no issues that we are aware of. It does its job silently in the background.""Firepower has been used for quite a few enterprise clients. Most of our clients are Fortune 500 and Firepower is used to improve their end to end firewall functionality.""A good intrusion prevention system and filtering.""I have access to the web version of Cisco Talos to see the reputation of IP addresses. I find this very helpful. It provides important information for my company to obtain the reputation of IP addresses. The information in Talos is quite complete.""If you compare the ASA and the FirePOWER, the best feature with FirePOWER is easy to use GUI. It has most of the same functionality in the Next-Generation FirePOWER, such as IPS, IPS policies, security intelligence, and integration and identification of all the devices or hardware you have in your network. Additionally, this solution is user-friendly.""One of the most valuable features of Firepower 7.0 is the "live log" type feature called Unified Event Viewer. That view has been really good in helping me get to data faster, decreasing the amount of time it takes to find information, and allowing me to fix problems faster. I've found that to be incredibly valuable because it's a lot easier to get to some points of data now.""The feature set is fine and is rarely a problem."

"The most valuable feature is the web filter.""The solution is very easy to understand. It's not overly complex.""The next-gen features, the unified threat management capabilities are something that just about everybody is interested in at this point.""The VPN is the most valuable feature.""The solution is stable.""The web tutor and automatic rules by schedule are good features.""One of the nice things about FortiGate is that it can be deployed on the cloud or on-premises. You can actually do both. That's the biggest reason why I stick with this solution as opposed to something like Cisco Meraki. Another nice thing is that I can log directly into a FortiGate or get to it through their FortiCloud access products. They're pretty reliable and consistent. One of the reasons why I started using the product was their single pane of management. I can deploy their line of firewalls in conjunction with their switching and access points, and I can manage the entire network from one interface. I don't have to log into one interface for the firewall, another one for the access points, and another one for the switches. These firewalls have access point controller functionality built right into the system, so I don't even have to purchase additional devices to manage them.""We have found it to be very reliable and that's why our teams and various users in our company use it as our main firewall every day."

"Easy to set up and easy to integrate.""Its detection, antivirus, and filtering features are the most valuable. The facility to connect by using the VPN connection is also a very valuable feature. It is very strong, secure, and reliable. We have implemented the Untangle solution in all hardware. It is also a user-friendly solution. It is easy to learn and easy to configure.""They have a command center that makes it easy to log into and see all of your appliances nationwide.""The most valuable features are IPS, MAPI, NAT, and VPN.""All features are useful. We are using premium features such as bandwidth sharing, failover, web filters, SSL controls, antivirus, and VPN. We use these features to the fullest. These features are available in the paid firewall license, not the free one."

Cons
"We're getting support but there's a big delay until we get a response from their technical team. They're in the USA and we're in Africa, so that's the difficulty. When they're in the office, they respond.""The product line does not address the SMB market as it is supposed to do. Cisco already has an on-premises sandbox solution.""Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall can be more secure.""Web filtering needs improvement because sometimes the URL is miscategorized.""The central management tool is not comfortable to use. You need to have a specific skill set. This is an important improvement for management because I would like to log into Firepower, see the dashboard, and generate a real-time report, then I question my team.""In a future release, it would be ideal if they could offer an open interface to other security products so that we could easily connect to our own open industry standard.""The initial setup could be simplified, as it can be complex for new users.""On the VPN side, Firepower could be better. It needs more monitoring on VPNs. Right now, it's not that good. You can set up a VPN in Firepower, but you can't monitor it."

More Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall Cons »

"It should be more stable. There should be full integration within Fortinet products themselves as well as with other third-party products. Especially when you're not dealing with SIEM and the correlation of the security box, we want Fortinet to be able to share that information with as many other products as it can.""The way everything is set up could be easier. Currently, people need a lot of experience and knowledge to administer it and to link it to devices.""Monitoring and reporting could be better.""To the best of my knowledge, Fortinet does not have a CASB solution and Fortinet does not have a Zero trust solution.""Vulnerability scanning could be improved.""The search tool needs improvement. It's very difficult to search for policies right now.""The solution could be more user friendly.""Fortinet doesn't provide multiple virtual firewalls which would facilitate end users and customers."

More Fortinet FortiGate Cons »

"The common center facility that Untangle provides should be available on-premises. There are great corporations here in Mexico that like the Untangle solution, but they don't like the fact that the monitoring and access to the appliance are in the cloud. They request for the common center facility to be available and installed on-premises.""They don't have any feature that allows you to drop the session.""We seek the availability of the hardware in our region. The hardware-based firewall from Untangle is currently not available in our region. It should have threat protection on a real-time basis. This feature, available in Check Point and Sandstorm kind of scenario, is currently missing in Untangle NG Firewall.""Web-filtering policies could be improved.""The pricing should be reduced because it is expensive."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"It definitely competes with the other vendors in the market.""I like the Smart Licensing, because it is more dynamic and easier to keep track of where you are at. If we have a high availability firewall pair and they are deployed in active/standby rather than active/active, I would expect that we would only pay for one set of licenses because you are using only one firewall at any one time. The other is there just for resiliency. The licensing, from a Firepower perspective, still requires you to have two licenses, even if the firewalls are in active/standby, which means that you pay for the two licenses, even though you might only be using one firewall any one time. This is probably not the best way to do it and doesn't represent the best value for money. This could be looked at to see if it could be done in a fairer way.""I am happy with the product in general, including the pricing.""There are additional implementation and validation costs.""This product requires licenses for advanced features including Snort, IPS, and malware detection.""Its pricing is good and competitive. There is a maintenance cost. It includes SecureX that makes it cost-effective as compared to the other solutions where you have to pay for XDR and SOAR capabilities.""The price is comparable.""Its price is in the middle range. Both Firepower and FortiGate are not cheap. Palo Alto and Check Point are the cheapest ones. I don't remember any costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."

More Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall Pricing and Cost Advice »

"The price of FortiGate is average and I would say that based on the top five products available on the market, it is in the affordable range.""Fortinet Secure SD-WAN delivered the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) per Mbps among all other vendors.""The Indian market is different than the European and American markets. When you compare they need to be a bit more aggressive on pricing.""The price of FortiGate support is too expensive.""It is not a very costly product if you compare it with other products. The return on investment is also good. If you compare the return of investment and money that you are spending on this product with Palo Alto, Cisco, Check Point, and other solutions, the investment is very less. We are happy with this solution. The optional licenses are there, and you can choose which one you want and which one to avoid.""The price is okay.""Fortinet bundles FortiGate with other products and because of this, the price is a little expensive to some SMB enterprises.""It has a competitive price."

More Fortinet FortiGate Pricing and Cost Advice »

"It is not expensive. It is cheaper than Fortinet.""The pricing model is better than with SonicWall.""It is not expensive. The best part is that it is based on the pay-per-use kind of scenario. An increase or decrease in the number of people doesn't make any difference. We are really happy about using this particular scenario."
