Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution has a very simple deployment.""It is a good product. We have just blocked everything coming from some geographical locations or certain countries, and it has been working very efficiently when I look at logs, events, and incidents generated from the system. It is generating very good analytic reports about it. This is the most valuable thing about this solution. It has load balancing and almost everything that a web application firewall needs. It is very flexible and easy to learn and configure. It can be easily learned and configured by using the information available on different channels such as YouTube.""Both the internal firewall management and the cloud can be managed by a single console.""FortiWeb offers a good price for the marketplace. In the Sri Lankan market, it's hard to find high-end products that can match FortiWeb's pricing. For high-end solutions, the price is always extremely high.""It is easy to install and to maintain.""The most valuable feature is ease of use.""The solution is stable.""The customers are very happy with this solution because of two things. First, the IPS integration with a web application is very tightly done on Fortinet. Second, the ease of use is there. The management interface or the GUI interface is very easy to use, configure, and manage. These are the two main valuable features. It supports integration with other Fortinet products. It also integrates very well with the firewall and sandboxing technology. They already have enough integration with different technologies. They have got a complete tech intelligence view of the whole product."

"There are quite a few useful Imperva Incapsula features. For example, one of them is the reports. The graphics are very good and it's easy to configure. The whole process is very fast and reliable too. They have good tech support as well.""It is an effective threat mitigation tool.""It blocks all types of attacks.""It's very pretty easy to onboard the URL.""The most valuable features for us are the DDoS and Bot.""DDoS protection and WAF are the most valuable features. It is easy to deploy a service. It is easy and quick to deploy to a new website.""The solution's most valuable aspect is that it is easy to configure.""The solution has a very good interface."

Cons
"In terms of performance, it needs to be more robust.""We have had problems with deployments where we've had to contact technical support to resolve them.""FortiGate could be improved on the security end because we've had some incidents with the customer. Otherwise, there is no problem.""The reporting could be optimized.""They could improve their support a little bit for faster response time.""FortiWeb needs to have support for the newest technology being used in web applications.""Describing security rules should be improved. It's tricky to define new feature tools when you want to describe an attack pattern and want to block it.""They can introduce a scaled-down version for the SMB market. It would be very competitive in the environment."

"It's quite expensive.""Users would benefit from better documentation. There is official documentation, but sometimes we need more detail. We have some use cases that are not so run of the mill. It would be great if there was a knowledge base that we could go to for more answers.""The product could use a broader scope in the area of policies.""The rules surrounding the making of web applications could be improved.""The weakest point of Imperva is their first level of support, which should be improved. They should also improve the access and security logs viewing directly on the portal. I would like to see better access and security logs through the portal and not only through a SIM solution. Currently, if you want to explore your access and security logs from Imperva, you need a SIM tool or a SIM infrastructure on your side to do it. You can't do it manually or directly through the portal, which is a big problem for us. I had a call yesterday with Imperva for the roadmap, and I just told them this. They agreed that this is an improvement point from their side.""It would be beneficial to include vulnerability management in the solution, similar to what they have for their on-premise solution.""The log analytics interface within Incapsula isn't really good. For example, if you have to get all logs from there, it's a very cumbersome process.""Some maintenance must be performed by our IT team."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The costs are standard. We pay around $1,600 yearly."
  • "All our Fortinet pricing is bundled together for different products, like FortiGate, FortiAnalyzer, and FortiWeb. FortiWeb, by itself, is probably around $2,500 to $3,500."
  • "FortiWeb is more expensive than some competing products."
  • "Due to the situation in Iran with the sanctions, the price of this solution is very expensive."
  • "It's an expensive solution, although there are no additional costs."
  • "It is fine now. We had to earlier negotiate the price."
  • "It is an expensive suite and it is an expensive solution, but it is a manageable one for an enterprise."
  • "Its subscription prices are cheaper, and it is not very expensive. From a price perspective, Fortinet is a very well-known security vendor. Subscriptions are very simple. They have a couple of licenses on an appliance, and that's it. The cost is not that big. One license is 40K, which they give with all the products. Another one includes the subscriptions for threat prevention, IPS, sandboxing, etc, which is more than enough."

  • "The cost is on par with other solutions such as Cloudflare and Akamai."
  • "It is not expensive compared to the other similar solutions in this category."
  • "It is a very expensive solution. The price is very high. A lot of customers tell us that they would love to use Imperva more. I have some customers who have 50 websites, but they have only 10 websites on Imperva because of the price. They would love to have all their websites running through Imperva, but they can't. They have to choose the more critical websites to protect because the price is very high. It is a very good product, but it is too expensive. If you buy a plan for 20 megabytes and you don't consume all of your 20 megabytes, it is okay, but if you consume more, you are charged for the superior traffic."
  • "The cost is somewhere around $10,000 a site. For every site, you pay individually. For every DNS entry, you have you pay."
  • "It is expensive."
  • "Pricing could be more competitive."
  • "Imperva charges us based on bandwidth, which is better than other vendors that charge us according to data transfer."
