We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"Feature-wise, we mostly use IPS because it is a security requirement to protect against attacks from outside and inside. This is where IPS helps us out a bunch.""You do not have to do everything through a command line which makes it a lot easier to apply rules.""The dashboard is the most important thing. It provides good visibility and makes management easy. Firepower also provides us with good application visibility and control.""Provides good integrations and reporting.""The most important feature is the intensive way you can troubleshoot Cisco Firepower Firewalls. You can go to the bit level to see why traffic is not handled in the correct way, and the majority of the time it's a networking issue and not a firewall issue. You can solve any problem without Cisco TAC help, because you can go very deeply under the hood to find out how traffic is flowing and whether it is not flowing as expected. That is something I have never seen with other brands.""The integration of network and workload micro-segmentation helps a lot to provide unified segmentation policies across east-west and north-south traffic. One concrete example is with Cisco ACI for the data center. Not only are we doing what is called a service graph on the ACI to make sure that we can filter traffic east-west between two endpoints in the same network, but when we go north-south or east-west, we can then leverage what we have on the network with SGTs on Cisco ISE. Once you build your matrix, it is very easy to filter in and out on east-west or north-south traffic.""There are no issues that we are aware of. It does its job silently in the background.""It has a good security level. It is a next-generation firewall. It can protect from different types of attacks. We have enabled IPS and IDS."

"Its portal is user-friendly. I am able to manage the user data and access control through this device.""The interface is user-friendly.""I'm more inclined towards the conventional firewall. So for me, I'm more geared towards the standard firewall type functionalities as well as the web application firewall because that seems to work fine.""The solution is excellent for web and application filtering and remote access with the VPN.""The main features I have found best are the load balancer and ease of use.""The solution is easy to integrate.""We consider the user level and control features of Sophos Cyberoam UTM to be the best.""The solution has good load balancers."

Cons
"It would be great if some of the load times were faster.""There is limited data storage on the appliance itself. So, you need to ship it out elsewhere in order for you to store it. The only point of consideration is around that area, basically limited storage on the machine and appliance. Consider logging it elsewhere or pushing it out to a SIEM to get better controls and manipulation over the data to generate additional metrics and visibility.""The intelligence has room for improvement. There are some hackers that we haven't seen before and its ability to detect those types of attacks needs to be improved.""The initial setup can be a bit complex for those unfamiliar with the solution.""The solution could offer better control that would allow the ability to restrictions certain features from a website.""One feature I would like to see, that Firepower doesn't have, is email security. Perhaps in the future, Cisco will integrate Cisco Umbrella with Firepower. I don't see why we should have to pay for two separate products when both could be integrated in one box.""The product line does not address the SMB market as it is supposed to do. Cisco already has an on-premises sandbox solution.""On the VPN side, Firepower could be better. It needs more monitoring on VPNs. Right now, it's not that good. You can set up a VPN in Firepower, but you can't monitor it."

"The firewall configuration and administration screens could use some improvement."

More GajShield Next Generation Firewall Cons »

"I had an issue when I was trying to stop a user from using too much bandwidth while I was using Azure, I was not able to stop them.""The policy is a bit too vague.""The VPN is an area that can be improved.""Cyberoam UTM needs to have more certifications with third-parties, such as NSS Labs.""There needs to be more documentation that users can access to help them understand the solution or troubleshoot as necessary.""The product is at its end-of-life. There is nothing to improve as it will be discontinued.""Technical support could be faster.""In my experience the solution can be easier to configure with more documentation, we need more training."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"For me, personally, as an individual, Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall is expensive.""When we purchased the firewall, we had to take the security license for IPS, malware protection, and VPN. If we are using high availability, we have to take a license for that. We also have to pay for hardware support and technical support. Its licensing is on a yearly basis.""Cisco is not for a small mom-and-pop shop because of the cost, but if you're in a regulated industry where a breach could cost you a million dollars, it's a bargain.""The price for Firepower is more expensive than FortiGate. The licensing is very complex. We usually ask for help from Solutel because of its complexity. I have a Cisco account where I can download the VPN client, then connect. Instead, I create an issue with Solutel, then Solutel solves the case.""When we are fighting against other competitors for customers, whether it is a small or big business, we feel very comfortable with the price that Firepower has today.""The price is comparable.""This product is expensive.""The solution was chosen because of its price compared to other similar solutions."

"It was about 15% cheaper compared to Sophos."

More GajShield Next Generation Firewall Pricing and Cost Advice »

"I had an issue when I was trying to stop a user from using too much bandwidth while I was using Azure, I was not able to stop them.""It is a cheap firewall. We are not paying for any license.""We pay for licensing the solution. It's my understanding that it is not overly expensive. It may be somewhere around $2,000 for a license.""I am not happy with the pricing, it could be better.""It is not cheap.""This is a cost-effective solution compared to other vendors, such as Cisco.""There are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fees.""There is a license required for this solution and we are on a three-year contract. I am satisfied with the price."

Traditional firewalls commonly serve as the boundary between the Internet and an organization's network. They offer protection based on controlling specific protocols and ports, and restricting traffic to and from specific IP addresses. These days however, most attacks are web-based, easily passing through http (port 80) and https (port 443). Most firewalls are unable to identify malicious applications or traffic passing through these common ports. Next Generation firewall must evolve to effectively defend against these threats.

Customers get, complete and Proactive security with GajShield Next Generation Appliances. GajShield has inbuild default security policy to deny all out bound traffic from local LAN to the internet. It reacts quickly to attacks with intelligent packet filtering that sets policies and hardens customer network defenses dynamically. GajShield has inbuild default security policy to deny all out bound traffic from local LAN to the internet. In today's organization, application, employees, vendors, clients, and security threats fight for the same network resources. It has become difficult for small to medium enterprises to manage their infrastructure as they are unable to distinguish between good traffic v/s bad traffic. Threats or various productive applications have become smarter as they camouflage data transfer using standard internet ports. Current day security products have failed to distinguish and manage such malicious traffic.

Cyberoam Unified Threat Management hardware appliances offer comprehensive security to organizations, ranging from large enterprises to small and branch offices. Multiple security features integrated over a single, Layer 8 Identity-based platform make security simple, yet highly effective.
