Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The high performance is very valuable, as well as the enterprise reliability features.""There's lots of flexibility in how we use the resources while also maintaining a small footprint.""We have been able to consolidate storage into Pavilion. Pavilions are our only SANs because it is a bring your own disk solution. When new drives come out, we are able to take out half of the drives in the system, put in new drives, move our VMs over to the new drives, take the other drives out, and populate those with new drives. Then, we are suddenly twice as dense as we were before. NVMe flash is only going to get denser and cheaper so we can make use of that every couple of years by just throwing newer disks into it at a fraction of the cost of a new SAN."

"InfoSight - analytics sight that collects data for all Nimble arrays deployed""It is easy to use. Not too complicated.""The deduplication and compression capabilities are powerful.""The performance and the processor are good.""The scalability is straightforward.""The solution runs pretty fast.""The most valuable feature is the NVMe flash storage.""In the 20 days that we have been using this solution, it has been stable."

More HPE Nimble Storage Pros »

"Everything is core centralized on the UI.""The maintenance software is straightforward because you do not need to do any configuration.""One of the most valuable features is the One-Click Upgrade. When I need to update the system, I do it with one click. This product is amazing because everything is easy to manage, from network management to snapshots.""A great feature involves real-time hardware changes.""The ease of deployment is very good.""The initial setup was quite straightforward.""The most valuable feature is the integration of all parts in Prism Element, the browser-based management tool.""The most valuable feature is the one-click to update the firmware and software."

Cons
"In our current configuration, we can only run the line controllers in high availability, active-standby mode, whereas we would like to see active-active implemented.""The rail system that Pavilion uses to mount up into a standard Dell or APC cabinet extends further back than normal rails, and they cover up the zero PDU slot. So, I don't like the rail system that comes with the device. That is my biggest complaint.""I would like to see the management layer improved."

"The dashboard can be improved.""There is a new version of the Nimble and 3PAR systems called Alletra and they have a lot of new features.""HPE does not have suffficient storage.""Scalability, in terms of being able to scale out, is not easy and should be improved.""The solution requires a higher availability.""I think the scalability of HPE Nimble Storage could be improved.""We would like there to be more enhanced features.""We have had some stability issues with one array which has happened twice during subsequent software updates but is due to a bad Postgres database."

More HPE Nimble Storage Cons »

"I'd like it to be more API-based.""The cost of the solution is too expensive. There are other options, such as VMware, that are offered for less money. In Latin America, it seems to be overpriced for the market.""Nutanix should improve AHV to support migration VMs between clusters and storage containers. Migration between containers is possible, but it requires shutting down the VM. The procedure is long and there is no migration between clusters at all.""This product would be improved if it included a hybrid cloud solution.""While the customer support is truly incredible, for Spanish speakers it would be appropriate to have support in their native language to further improve problem-solving conditions.""To have internal stability, we needed to network the solution ourselves. Performance depends on the application. Performance could be the lack of IOPS, memory and CPU and configuration issues.""We had a few problems with the foundation machine that you can use to build your systems out. We've got it working now, but it should be improved.""It's lacking in some features but overcompensating in others."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"This is hardware. They have a singular array that you can populate with your own disk, or you can buy the disks through them. For controllers, you pay for the components inside of the SAN, but there is only one chassis that they work with.""The licensing fees are very reasonable."

More Pavilion HyperParallel Flash Array Pricing and Cost Advice »

"There is a one-time price for hardware, and with the software support, everything is included, such as software upgrades. The licensing of the solution is included in the cost of the hardware and the support is an extra cost. We have purchased support on an annual basis, but you can purchase support up front for up to seven years. We usually buy five years and near the time of the expiry, we sometimes extend it.""We pay a one-time fee for terabyte licenses, and the support is paid yearly.""The pricing is better than some of the competitors, such as Dell EMC.""Nimble Storage is too expensive for our enterprise customers.""I would classify it as an expensive product.""HPE Nimble Storage is more expensive than some of the other solutions, such as Pure Storage. They charge more for every feature than other vendors.""I think HPE Nimble Storage is less expensive than Primera and is the best solution for Venezuela.""The price is negotiable and when we first received the quote it was expensive, but after dealing with them and receiving a discount, the price is reasonable."

More HPE Nimble Storage Pricing and Cost Advice »

"Nutanix is cheaper than Cisco HyperFlex, although it depends on the configuration because Nutanix can also be expensive.""The pricing is quite good in comparison with HPE SimpliVity, Nutanix Scale, and even traditional architecture.""The pricing is fair for the package.""When compared to the competitors, the price is reasonable.""This product is less expensive than some of the competing HCI solutions.""The price of the solution could improve. Nutanix has recently changed its pricing model from perpetual to subscription. They have identified there are challenges with the pricing model.""The licensing costs are a bit expensive but when you compare the features, it's reasonable.""Its price is fine. I can't really complain about that."
