Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The most valuable feature is stability.""The Adversity Malware Protection (AMP) feature is the most valuable. It is also very easy to use. Every technical user can operate this solution without any difficulty. The dashboard of Cisco Firepower has every tool that a security operator needs. You can find every resource that you need to operate through this dashboard.""The implementation is pretty straightforward.""Firepower NGFW has improved my organization in several ways. Before, we were trying to stamp out security threats and issues, it was a one-off type of way to attack it. I spent a lot of manpower trying to track down the individual issues or flare-ups that we would see. With Cisco's Firepower Management, we're able to have that push up to basically one monitor and one UI and be able to track that and stop threats immediately. It also gives us a little more granularity on what those threats might be.""A good intrusion prevention system and filtering.""The integration of network and workload micro-segmentation helps a lot to provide unified segmentation policies across east-west and north-south traffic. One concrete example is with Cisco ACI for the data center. Not only are we doing what is called a service graph on the ACI to make sure that we can filter traffic east-west between two endpoints in the same network, but when we go north-south or east-west, we can then leverage what we have on the network with SGTs on Cisco ISE. Once you build your matrix, it is very easy to filter in and out on east-west or north-south traffic.""One of the most valuable features of Firepower 7.0 is the "live log" type feature called Unified Event Viewer. That view has been really good in helping me get to data faster, decreasing the amount of time it takes to find information, and allowing me to fix problems faster. I've found that to be incredibly valuable because it's a lot easier to get to some points of data now.""If you compare the ASA and the FirePOWER, the best feature with FirePOWER is easy to use GUI. It has most of the same functionality in the Next-Generation FirePOWER, such as IPS, IPS policies, security intelligence, and integration and identification of all the devices or hardware you have in your network. Additionally, this solution is user-friendly."

"I like that the initial setup is straighforward. It's also a scalable solution.""We make use of the new data center, specifically the containerized data center which is built and reviewed by Huawei, including all the device's infrastructure.""The mapping features and traffic logging are good.""The support for the solution has been excellent. If we ever had an issue they would send an engineer to help us with our problem.""The user interface is very, very good.""I had no difficulty using the Huawei NGFW.""The security is good. It's as effective as anything else on the market.""Huawei was able to assist us in the installation of their product. The installation was very fast."

"The EEE security controls allow us to make policy restrictions, so I can customize port numbers to allow or limit control.""Juniper supports their products very well.""What I like the most about Juniper is that they have the same CLI on all routers, switches, and firewalls. If you have worked with any Juniper device, such as a Juniper router, you will be able to work with an SRX, which is really cool. It is a nice experience to work with every device of Juniper, not only firewalls.""You can scale the solution.""The GUI is simple to use.""Troubleshooting with the solution is quite easy. If you compare the process to, for example, Fortigate, Juniper is much easier.""The IPSec configuration is going well.""I like the Junos OS, which has been very good for me. It's very clever."

Cons
"The intelligence has room for improvement. There are some hackers that we haven't seen before and its ability to detect those types of attacks needs to be improved.""The initial setup can be a bit complex for those unfamiliar with the solution.""The price and SD-WAN capabilities are the areas that need improvement.""My team tells me that other solutions such as Fortinet and Palo Alto are easier to implement.""The solution could offer better control that would allow the ability to restrictions certain features from a website.""The product line does not address the SMB market as it is supposed to do. Cisco already has an on-premises sandbox solution.""The visibility for VPN is one big part. The policy administration could be improved in terms of customizations and flexibility for changing it to our needs.""I would like it to have faster deployment times. A typical deployment could take two to three minutes. Sometimes, it depends on the situation. It is better than it was in the past, but it could always use improvement."

More Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall Cons »

"The solution doesn't seem to be very mature. Our networking team says they are experiencing a lot of issues in the firewalls and some routers.""I would like to see an antivirus solution included with the product.""With the Huawei firewall, none of the features comes at the top. We found out later that customer support is really not good. For this firewall, because of our customers' routine, for example, every six months they'll do a penetration test to find weaknesses. So whenever they came up with VAPT reports, they are looking to Huawei for help. I think that's basically because it's a different culture. Chinese culture and our culture is different. They have always tried to help find some excuses or say some other things that cannot help you solve the problem immediately.""The solution could be more secure and have better integration.""The solution requires a more interactive dashboard. That would make it easier than playing with configurations the way we have to now.""The documentation needs to be improved. When they retire old models, they also retire the documentation. However, if you are still using an older model, you still need access to that documentation. And yet, they go ahead and removed it. It's gone. You are therefore stuck with a device with no documentation and technical support that isn't very helpful as they also remove support assistance as well.""The solution is scalable but it is difficult because you need to purchase new systems, it is not just one click.""Wi-Fi scanning and Wi-Fi analysis would be useful features to include in the future."

More Huawei NGFW Cons »

"It should be easier to escalate support tickets.""I would like to have a better web UI for administration. Juniper could simplify the web UI and make it more compatible with mobile devices.""In the next release, I would like to have a better web interface. It needs to be more user-friendly. Right now, you can only access many features through the console.""The solution isn't very granular or detailed.""The user interface and the GUI need improvement.""Its logging is very good, but we would like to have an easier way of creating more reports. We would like to be able to manipulate the reports or manage the way the reports are coming out.""The CPU switch could be improved for a better overall performance of traffic flow.""Ongoing costs are something that we need to manage and make sure that we're getting value on."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"The price for Firepower is more expensive than FortiGate. The licensing is very complex. We usually ask for help from Solutel because of its complexity. I have a Cisco account where I can download the VPN client, then connect. Instead, I create an issue with Solutel, then Solutel solves the case.""The price is comparable.""This product is expensive.""For me, personally, as an individual, Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall is expensive.""The solution was chosen because of its price compared to other similar solutions.""Cisco, as we all know, is expensive, but for the money you are paying, you know that you are also getting top-notch documentation as well as support if needed.""I am happy with the product in general, including the pricing.""When we purchased the firewall, we had to take the security license for IPS, malware protection, and VPN. If we are using high availability, we have to take a license for that. We also have to pay for hardware support and technical support. Its licensing is on a yearly basis."

More Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall Pricing and Cost Advice »

"I believe that we are entitled to a one-year extension on our licensing.""The price of the license of this solution is high.""When you compare the price with other products, it's quite cost-effective. But the problem is always after, let's say, two years or three years later because they are not able to provide updates or patches very quickly.""Licensing fees are billed on an annual basis."

More Huawei NGFW Pricing and Cost Advice »

"In general, their price definitely couldn't be cheaper.""There is a licensing fee.""Its price is reasonable. In India, most of the products have a similar price. There is only a 5% to 10% variation in the price of different brands.""The product itself is costly and the price of migration is very high.""It is best suited to an enterprise-level, as the mid-range companies may find that the cost is not affordable.""The price could improve, it is a bit expensive.""The price is reasonable.""When you consider performance, price, and features, maybe Juniper is not so cost-effective compared to other solutions like MikroTik."
