We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"If configured, Firepower provides us with application visibility and control.""I have access to the web version of Cisco Talos to see the reputation of IP addresses. I find this very helpful. It provides important information for my company to obtain the reputation of IP addresses. The information in Talos is quite complete.""Being able to determine our active users vs inactive users has led us to increased productivity through visibility. Also, if an issue was happening with our throughput, then we wouldn't know without research. Now, notifications are more proactively happening.""One of the most valuable features of Firepower 7.0 is the "live log" type feature called Unified Event Viewer. That view has been really good in helping me get to data faster, decreasing the amount of time it takes to find information, and allowing me to fix problems faster. I've found that to be incredibly valuable because it's a lot easier to get to some points of data now.""I have integrated it for incidence response. If there is a security event, the Cisco firewall will automatically block the traffic, which is valuable.""The feature set is fine and is rarely a problem.""The solution offers very easy configurations.""One of the most valuable features is the AMP. It's very good and very reliable when it comes to malicious activities, websites, and viruses."

"The Juniper SRX series is easy to use.""The GUI is simple to use.""The CLI works perfectly.""Troubleshooting with the solution is quite easy. If you compare the process to, for example, Fortigate, Juniper is much easier.""The EEE security controls allow us to make policy restrictions, so I can customize port numbers to allow or limit control.""I like the Junos OS, which has been very good for me. It's very clever.""We did not have problems with scaling, as we have less than 500 users in our organization.""The IPSec configuration is going well."

"The way that the solution quickly updates to adjust to threats is the solution's most valuable aspect. When there's a security attack, within five minutes, all Wildfire subscribers have access to updates so that all systems will be safe. Its threat prevention is way better than other vendor products.""The scalability is acceptable.""The most valuable feature is the cloud-based protection against zero-day malware attacks.""For example, if a security Intel threat talks about an IOC. We can then go to our MSP and say, "Is there a signature for this particular type of malware that just came out?" And if they'll say yes, then we'll say, "Okay. Does it apply to these firewalls? And have we seen any hits on it?" There's absolutely value in it.""The solution has plenty of features.""The most valuable feature is the improved security that it offers.""Using WildFire has reduced the number of viruses and the amount of malware that comes into our system, which means that I don't have to rely on the end-users to identify it.""The most valuable feature for us is the VPN."

Cons
"This product is managed using the Firepower Management Center (FMC), but it would be better if it also supported the command-line interface (CLI).""FirePOWER does a good job when it comes to providing us with visibility into threats, but I would like to see a more proactive stance to it.""The price and SD-WAN capabilities are the areas that need improvement.""It would be great if some of the load times were faster.""One of the few things that are brought up is that for the overall management, it would be great to have a cloud instance of that. And not only just a cloud instance, but one of the areas that we've looked at is using an HA type of cloud. To have the ability to have a device file within a cloud. If we had an issue with one, the other one would pick up automatically.""I would like it to have faster deployment times. A typical deployment could take two to three minutes. Sometimes, it depends on the situation. It is better than it was in the past, but it could always use improvement.""The initial setup was a bit complex. It wasn't a major challenge, but due to our requirements and network, it was not very straightforward but still easy enough.""Deploying configurations takes longer than it should."

"It could have features that other products support like blade options and stand-alone endpoint security.""It was very difficult to deal with and required a lot of support, and the UI is very poor.""Its logging is very good, but we would like to have an easier way of creating more reports. We would like to be able to manipulate the reports or manage the way the reports are coming out.""The user interface and the GUI need improvement.""In the future, I would like to see the UI more responsive""The capacity can be limiting. We have outgrown its capacity. You can only scale up to a certain extent, depending on the device purchased.""I've noticed that the management interface could use some updates and upgrades.""The CPU switch could be improved for a better overall performance of traffic flow."

More Juniper SRX Cons »

"In the future, I would like to see more automation in the reporting.""The support is good but they could be faster.""When you contact support, there is no guarantee that they will be available to help you tackle the issue that you are facing.""It's not really their problem, it's a problem across the board. There will always be problems with interrupted traffic. We have to set it up where we're playing a middle man game where we're stripping it out, looking at it, and then putting it back together and sending it on its way. That requires CPU cycles. And there's some overhead with that.""Our main concern is that everything has to be synced with the WildFire Cloud and has to be checked through the subscription.""The deployment model could be better.""The configuration should be made a little bit easier. I understand why it is as it is, but there should be a way to make it easier from the user side.""The only complaint that we receive from our customers is in regards to the price."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"It definitely competes with the other vendors in the market.""I am happy with the product in general, including the pricing.""The price for Firepower is more expensive than FortiGate. The licensing is very complex. We usually ask for help from Solutel because of its complexity. I have a Cisco account where I can download the VPN client, then connect. Instead, I create an issue with Solutel, then Solutel solves the case.""Cisco, as we all know, is expensive, but for the money you are paying, you know that you are also getting top-notch documentation as well as support if needed.""When we purchased the firewall, we had to take the security license for IPS, malware protection, and VPN. If we are using high availability, we have to take a license for that. We also have to pay for hardware support and technical support. Its licensing is on a yearly basis.""Pricing is the same as other competitors. It is comparable. The licensing has gotten better. It has been easier with Smart Licensing.""Cisco pricing is premium. However, they gave us a 50 to 60 percent discount.""This product requires licenses for advanced features including Snort, IPS, and malware detection."

More Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall Pricing and Cost Advice »

"Its price is reasonable. In India, most of the products have a similar price. There is only a 5% to 10% variation in the price of different brands.""The price is reasonable.""The product itself is costly and the price of migration is very high.""There is a licensing fee.""The price could improve, it is a bit expensive.""When you consider performance, price, and features, maybe Juniper is not so cost-effective compared to other solutions like MikroTik.""This is an expensive product.""Compared to other vendors, the pricing of this solution is good."

More Juniper SRX Pricing and Cost Advice »

"WildFire is a little bit pricey. Sometimes it's difficult to sell it to customers at the current price.""This solution is very pricey and it depends on the package that you implement.""The physical appliance is around €3,000 or €4,000, and then, you have the licensing for a year for around €3,000.""This is an expensive product and the market for Palo Alto in Poland could be much bigger if the pricing was comparable to Fortinet.""The solution is overpriced.""It depends on the features. Additional features cost additional money as well.""The price of the Palo Alto Networks WildFire license is expensive. When it came time to renew the solution the price doubled.""We are on an annual subscription. When we purchased the firewall, we had activated this solutions license for a minimum of one year. The price of the solution is fair."
