Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The solution backs up Microsoft workloads as well as anything on the market.""The initial setup is quite straightforward.""The most valuable feature is the recovery.""It is almost perfect for Microsoft products. It is not a very powerful tool, but it is okay for small sites and small businesses with Microsoft products. It is easy to use for backup and restore. It is good for backing up Microsoft servers such as Exchange and SharePoint servers.""The automated procedure is quite good for us, as it is able to capture all of the information that we require.""It has an application backup, a file backup, a system backup and a hypervisor.""The most valuable feature is that DPM has an index so individual files can be searched.""Its capability to give a BMR for all the workstations that I want to connect to."

"The solution is very easy to deploy.""Strong performance with a high level of compatibility.""I like how Veeam intuitively integrates with Zerto.""The most valuable features I have found to be Instant Recovery, quick restore and rollback, and asynchronous copy. It is a complete solution for our needs.""The solution can work for companies no matter the size or scope.""The most valuable feature is that I can back up the whole machine and then restore it relatively fast.""I have found the most valuable feature to be the new CDP features. It is very popular for my customer's needs.""It is a powerful software for communicating with the storage and for redundancy."

Cons
"Additional Hyper-V knowledge would be great.""The user interface can be improved quite a bit.""Management reporting could be improved.""There is a very poor online user community in terms of people blogging about their experiences with DPM.""Compatibility and integration with other products needs improvement.""We can't take a snapshot and take it outside, which is a problem.""It needs portability for other vendors. It is good for backing up Microsoft servers, but it doesn't support third-party solutions such as Oracle Database. It depends on Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy, especially for Hyper-V, which has a lot of problems. They should enhance the Volume Shadow Copy functionality. Its reporting should also be better. Reporting is too weak in DPM.""The user friendliness could be improved."

More Microsoft DPM Cons »

"The reporting feature can be improved.""There is some complexity we have experienced when using the solution that should be simplified.""The pricing could be better.""Even though the speed has improved over the years, I think that there are some instances where it still takes a while.""It needs to offer an automatic check for backups.""Device backup could be improved.""If you do not use the standard software and you go with a third-party solution such as this one, it might not work the same. There is an integration issue I understand between the database standards.""There's a lot of room for improvement surrounding the backup process."

Pricing and Cost Advice
Information Not Available
"There is a license required for this solution and the price is a bit expensive but it depends on the environment that you have on how much it will cost.""We pay on an annual basis. We pay roughly $12,000 for our software subscription.""We have increased our scalability while being able to free up senior resources from recovery activities. I estimate our overall savings to about $20,000 per year.""The price of the solution could improve when comparing it to competitors. The market is very competitive and they should have some discounts or special offers.""If you tell Veeam that you're competing with, for example, NetBackup or Backup Exec, or Dell or Micro Focus then they may lower the price. They are very competitive.""The price of Veeam Backup & Replication is reasonable compared to IBM.""It is always nice to get products cheaper. Technically, it saves you a lot of money. If you wanted to buy the same functionality out of vSphere, you would spend thousands to essentially get the same functionality.""It's the market price. It isn't expensive, nor is it cheap."
