Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"MicroStrategy has what they call the Semantic Graph — an enterprise-grade semantic graph — and I think the technology is fantastic.""The hyperintelligence is the most valuable feature.""It is scalable and integration-friendly.""I haven't come across any bugs.""The interactive features that appear in the report were good. The external rendering option they give with multi servers was also good.""The dashboard features and functionalities that come through the MicroStrategy Suite are the most valuable. It can be used by end users with minimum knowledge of the product. They can run a report or create a dashboard on their phones, which is kind of cool.""It is very stable.""The simplicity of MicroStrategy is what I like the most."

"With the changing business landscape, it is nice to access Qlik Sense through an external website. As an organization when we use QlikView Desktop, we need to connect to our internal network. We can access QlikView through the QlikView access point but the website has a little different look and feel than the desktop application.""The most valuable feature is the mobile platform.""Qlik was the first company to implement an in-memory associative analytics engine. This basically means that all data is loaded into memory, but it also means that instead of joining data together, the data is associated together. From the front end, from the UI point of view, data can be joined or included or excluded on the fly. It can be drilled down and drilled through and users can slice and dice it and that type of thing can be done from anywhere in the data to any other place in the data. It doesn't have to be predefined. It doesn't have to have hierarchies or anything like that.""There are a lot of features available in this solution, it has been very easy to use. We have found it to be less complex and user-friendly compared to other solutions we have used.""We have been using Qlik Sense to generate reports that have taken hours to prepare before that we are now able to update in a couple of minutes and are available to users on a centralized platform where they are able to get the required reports.""The most valuable feature is the interface for the end-user.""It is extremely clean to view, easy to use, and intuitive to develop with. There are a host of online resources to provide assistance to new users.""The associative searching and filtering capability is a unique feature among other BI tools, and one does not need to deeply understand the underlying data."

Cons
"The solution's reports are not very flexible.""Its price should be lower. In terms of features, what we have is quite encompassing right now.""They need to do a better job In its ability to allow end users to produce their own reports, metrics, and self-service business intelligence.""MicroStrategy should become more user friendly. It should behave more like Tableau.""I would like to see the enterprise version available in a demo or as a trial version.""The learning curve is quite steep.""They should provide more tutorials and include some project files.""It crashes multiple times for even small changes that I make on the fly in the dashboard. After doing all the necessary changes, the MicroStrategy desktop or even the web version kicks the users out, and all the changes are lost. This functionality is buggy in MicroStrategy. It is hard to keep track of all the changes that I have done before. I don't want to make copies of each change that I have made because I would end up creating a hundred dashboards. It is not feasible in a real environment. I haven't worked on integrating MicroStrategy with the cloud. I am not sure how it behaves in the cloud, but I have heard from a few of my friends that there are some hiccups when you kind of sync to the cloud through MicroStrategy."

More MicroStrategy Cons →

"I would like to have the ability to better customize the visuals including changing fonts, sizing, colors, axes, and titles.""If a team wants to keep track of source code changes, there is not an out-of-the-box solution for it.""Error handling is an area that needs to be improved.""Qlik dashboards are not friendly with end-users, but they have been enhancing this shorted in some recent releases and next releases hopefully.""The on-demand report generation button in Qlik Sense currently doesn't work if NPrinting requires Okta verification, which our company uses.""Even though a huge set of learning material is available, anyone starting his/her journey on learning the software doesn't even know where to start it. The so-called Continous Classroom service is not cheap, but there are many free tutorials, they are not sorted or enlisted adequately though.""Moving forward I would like to see more features that are currently available in QlikView, such as being able to better customize coloring within charts. I would also like to see the ability to add calculated dimensions to the selections tool in the page.""They should generally focus more on the evolution of current capabilities rather than doing everything but only at 50% effectiveness."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "We have a license with packages, and there are additional costs for extra components."
  • "We have one of the best pricing available, but we can't disclose that information."
  • "The pricing is fair."
  • "They can improve its licensing. It is a bit expensive as compared to Microsoft and other tools."
  • "They offer yearly as well as perpetual licenses."
  • "It is expensive. We would like to extend it to many users, but we are currently restricting that because the cost is a constraint. If we are given a chance, we would love to expand it."
  • "All BI software vendors' list prices are high. It's about a price that fits the customer's needs. And I think MicroStrategy has some flexibility in its pricing model where we can easily demonstrate a total cost of ownership comparison against any of the other players."
  • "There is no subscription, I am using the free version."
  • More MicroStrategy Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The license mechanism of Qlik is quite complicated and not exchangeable. Such as 2016, they charge licenses by token, 1500$ for a token / 1 user. 2018: they change to 2 kinds of licenses: professional 1500$ / user, analyzer 800$ / user. 2019: they support subscription with 70$ Monthly for professional, 40$ monthly for analyzers, but for those you’re using perpetual licenses, they don't support acquiring more subscription licenses. The maintenance fee yearly are also high, 20% of the perpetual license."
  • "For on-premise enterprise users, a number of additional features come at a premium cost."
