Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
"There aren't any bugs on the solution.""It is very stable.""What they provide is way beyond the essential requirements of customers.""Stability and speed are the most valuable aspects.""The price is the solution's most valuable aspect. It's much cheaper than, for example, VMware.""Customers are moving to open source and Red Hat is the leader in this particular space. I think customers feel more confident running Red Hat Virtualization than VMware.""It is easy to deal with when comes to application migration and its compatibility with the multiple component applications.""The solution makes migration easy."

"This product is useful for running multiple virtual machines from a single server so that people can utilize the hardware resources in their organization. Its ability for backups is also valuable. In case of a disaster, you can recover the entire server from the images. It is easy to use. In terms of features, whatever they are providing is more than sufficient for us. We are not exploiting this product up to a hundred percent.""The solution is user-friendly and easy to manage.""The product offers good stability.""Tech support is very knowledgeable.""It is very stable and scalable, and implementation is straightforward as well.""Reduces downtime.""The most useful features are ESXi, DRS, Auto Deploy, and the Lifecycle Manager.""The ability of a running VM to be quickly relocated to another hypervisor or launched at another site via replicated storage greatly reduces downtime."

More VMware vSphere Pros →

"The availability of technical expertise with the solution may be limited in some areas.""We'd like it if it would be possible on Red Hat Virtualization to possibly connect two or three VMs to the same disk.""When we do a direct comparison, then obviously VMware does better in terms of having Fault Tolerance and doing active disaster recovery and these kind of things. This is something that can be improved within Red Hat.""The support is tricky in a few places. We're facing some challenges within Malaysia where we don't really have the system integrators available who can provide extended support. When we need personnel on-site, we can't get them.""The documentation is not as good as it should be.""Red Hat by itself is not scalable. But you can have third party add-ons like Ceph to make it massively scalable.""Customers are not aware of this solution, they can improve by providing more awareness and solution availability.""It lags behind in that you need to go to something like Fedora to get all the extra bells and whistles."

More RHEV Cons →

"I'm using vSphere at a high level. Sometimes, I find it challenging to integrate different networks, but I think it's just my lack of knowledge.""The technical support is good. However, it could be more seamless when it comes to chat support and lower response times.""Security and patch-related items need improvement.""Integration with different platforms could be improved.""Its price should be better. Their support should also be more customer-friendly, and they should train people like us so that we know more about the latest technologies and features. If there is some program and drive from their side to teach us, it is definitely going to help us. Pricing and support are the most important features for mid-level companies. We are not implementing this solution for big tech companies.""Its cost needs to be improved. It is very expensive as compared to other solutions.""The only concern that I have with VMware is the support. It is very limited and can be better.""I would like to see improvements in simplifying automation, cloud native deployment, administration, and fault resolution."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I believe we pay on a yearly basis."
  • "We buy a license for commercial use, and we also use the free editions."
  • "We have to pay extra for vulnerability and fault tolerance."
  • "The solution does not require licencing but a subscription is necessary, which is very affordable."
  • More RHEV Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The license of VMware is a one-time payment and you can continue to enroll in support for troubleshooting and also administer the licenses."
  • "Do not buy based on price alone. Many of my customers chose the lowest cost option only to discover that the additional funds needed to access even a few more features would have been money well spent. Likewise, if you are going to spend more money on additional features, then have a plan to actually deploy and integrate those features into your infrastructure. Many customers never take full advantage of the many features that they are paying for and that can be avoided by being proactive in developing your overall vision for the infrastructure."
  • "You will find the cost is reasonably cheaper."
  • "It is expensive in terms of cost, licensing, and professional services."
  • "VMware is costly versus other competitors but is still one of the market leaders and expanding now with partners like AWS."
  • "It is expensive."
  • "In my opinion, the essential version is a good price."
  • "The price of this solution is mid-range."
