Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Firepower NGFW has improved my organization in several ways. Before, we were trying to stamp out security threats and issues, it was a one-off type of way to attack it. I spent a lot of manpower trying to track down the individual issues or flare-ups that we would see. With Cisco's Firepower Management, we're able to have that push up to basically one monitor and one UI and be able to track that and stop threats immediately. It also gives us a little more granularity on what those threats might be.""The most valuable features of this solution are advanced malware protection, IPS, and IDS.""It is one of the fastest solutions, if not the fastest, in the security technology space. This gives us peace of mind knowing that as soon as a new attack comes online that we will be protected in short order. From that perspective, no one really comes close now to Firepower, which is hugely valuable to us from an upcoming new attack prevention perspective.""Its Snort 3 IPS has better flexibility as far as being able to write rules. This gives me better granularity.""The most valuable feature that Cisco Firepower NGFW provides for us is the Intrusion policy.""Provides good integrations and reporting.""Web filtering is a big improvement for us. The previous version we used, the AC520, did not have that feature included. It was not very easy for us, especially because the environment had to be isolated and we needed to get updates from outside, such as Windows patches. That feature has really helped us when we are going outside to pull those patches.""We have not had to deal with stability issues."

"Sangfor NGAF works accordingly with our customers. The solution has good performance, easy to use, and integrates well with the endpoints.""While the features are not dissimilar to other brands, configuration is much more simple, which works out great for Indonesian people.""It's a very simple to use product.""In terms of the most valuable features, the IPS report is quick and updated. Performance is also valuable.""In four steps one can configure the entire firewall.""We've found the technical support to be helpful.""The most valuable features are the WAN optimization, the internet access gateway (IAG), and the central console, which allows us to implement on their firewall.""Sangfor has the best capabilities for securing connections, securing web browsers, securing servers, and general threat protection."

More Sangfor NGAF Pros →

"It is a brilliant product. It is a Unified Threat Management (UTM) system. It has got about 11 security services that take care of your perimeter security. It takes care of any kind of cyber threats that could come in. It takes care of creating VPNs between two SonicWalls instantly and very easily. It has got spyware in it as well as a firewall. It has also got a gateway antivirus and an application firewall that can block things from outside.""Support has improved dramatically since their separation from Dell.""It's very flexible and meets our customer's needs.""Compared to Cisco, SonicWall NSa is much easier to configure.""It is able to fulfill my requirements. It protects our network environment. It has control over IPS, signatures, and it can also manage bandwidth and mapping. It is also stable and has good support.""The most valuable features of this solution are the GUI pre-filtering and the ATP (advanced threat protection).""Setup is easy. Anyone with basic firewall experience can do it.""The most valuable feature is the sandbox."

Cons
"The initial setup can be a bit complex for those unfamiliar with the solution.""Cisco makes horrible UIs, so the interface is something that should be improved.""Web filtering needs improvement because sometimes the URL is miscategorized.""I would like to see improvement when you create policies on Snort 3 IPS on Cisco Firepower. On Snort 2, it was more like a UI page where you had some multiple choices where you could tweak your config. On Snort 3, the idea is more to build some rules on the text file or JSON file, then push it. So, I would like to see a lot of improvements here.""The product line does not address the SMB market as it is supposed to do. Cisco already has an on-premises sandbox solution.""I would like it to have faster deployment times. A typical deployment could take two to three minutes. Sometimes, it depends on the situation. It is better than it was in the past, but it could always use improvement.""Deploying configurations takes longer than it should.""Implementations require the use of a console. It would help if the console was embedded."

More Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall Cons →

"The solution has too many bugs and these slow down the implementation.""The web interface needs to be improved, making it more user-friendly.""They need to increase the number of ports in the firewall.""I believe that IAM and NGFW need to merge into a single box, instead of there being two separate box solutions.""An area for improvement would be the number of ports defined on the box. In the next release, I would like them to develop their provisioning stage of enrolling end devices.""Occasional issues with breaches which are dealt with expediently."

More Sangfor NGAF Cons →

"The product likely isn't a good fit for a large organization.""We're not particularly fond of the way it generally performs. We are finding ourselves rebooting often. There are freeze-ups and that kind of thing. The stability needs to improve exponentially.""The logging, reporting, and storage capacity size could improve in a future release.""It only has a single power interface, which has limitations in terms of high availability.""I would like to see better integration.""The scalability is something that should be improved.""I would like U.S.-based technical support.""The pricing for this product in India is high and the fees should be reduced."
