We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The customer service/technical support is very good with this solution.""The dashboard is the most important thing. It provides good visibility and makes management easy. Firepower also provides us with good application visibility and control.""I like the firewall features, Snort, and the Intrusion Prevention System (IPS).""If you compare the ASA and the FirePOWER, the best feature with FirePOWER is easy to use GUI. It has most of the same functionality in the Next-Generation FirePOWER, such as IPS, IPS policies, security intelligence, and integration and identification of all the devices or hardware you have in your network. Additionally, this solution is user-friendly.""Another benefit has been user integration. We try to integrate our policies so that we can create policies based on active users. We can create policies based on who is accessing a resource instead of just IP addresses and ports.""We get the Security Intelligence Feeds refreshed every hour from Talos, which from my understanding is that they're the largest intelligence Security Intelligence Group outside of the government.""The most valuable features of this solution are advanced malware protection, IPS, and IDS.""Its Snort 3 IPS has better flexibility as far as being able to write rules. This gives me better granularity."

"While the features are not dissimilar to other brands, configuration is much more simple, which works out great for Indonesian people.""Sangfor has the best capabilities for securing connections, securing web browsers, securing servers, and general threat protection.""In four steps one can configure the entire firewall.""We've found the technical support to be helpful.""It's a very simple to use product.""In terms of the most valuable features, the IPS report is quick and updated. Performance is also valuable."

"This product is user-friendly and easy to configure.""Setup is easy. Anyone with basic firewall experience can do it.""It's very simple to use and the support is great.""The antivirus and items of that nature were quite helpful to have.""It is a brilliant product. It is a Unified Threat Management (UTM) system. It has got about 11 security services that take care of your perimeter security. It takes care of any kind of cyber threats that could come in. It takes care of creating VPNs between two SonicWalls instantly and very easily. It has got spyware in it as well as a firewall. It has also got a gateway antivirus and an application firewall that can block things from outside.""The stability is better than other products.""The most valuable features are the VPN, SSL VPN, and IPSec VPN.""They offer good antivirus solutions."

Cons
"Report generation is an area that should be improved.""Deploying configurations takes longer than it should.""The configuration in Firepower Management Center is very slow. Deployment takes two to three minutes. You spend a lot of time on modifications. Whereas, in FortiGate, you press a button, and it takes one second.""One feature I would like to see, that Firepower doesn't have, is email security. Perhaps in the future, Cisco will integrate Cisco Umbrella with Firepower. I don't see why we should have to pay for two separate products when both could be integrated in one box.""The initial setup was a bit complex. It wasn't a major challenge, but due to our requirements and network, it was not very straightforward but still easy enough.""One issue with Firepower Management Center is deployment time. It takes seven to 10 minutes and that's a long time for deployment. In that amount of time, management or someone else can ask me to change something or to provide permissions, but during that time, doing so is not possible. It's a drawback with Cisco. Other vendors, like Palo Alto or Fortinet do not have this deployment time issue.""The performance should be improved.""FirePOWER does a good job when it comes to providing us with visibility into threats, but I would like to see a more proactive stance to it."

More Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall Cons »

"They need to increase the number of ports in the firewall.""I believe that IAM and NGFW need to merge into a single box, instead of there being two separate box solutions.""Occasional issues with breaches which are dealt with expediently.""The web interface needs to be improved, making it more user-friendly.""The solution has too many bugs and these slow down the implementation."

More Sangfor NGAF Cons »

"There are a few areas that need improvement including the VPN, user management, and reporting.""It would be useful to have an application firewall that prevents the outside world from seeing your private IPs. You don't need to publicize your private IPs to the outside world, and you can create a barrier, like a proxy server.""We're not particularly fond of the way it generally performs. We are finding ourselves rebooting often. There are freeze-ups and that kind of thing. The stability needs to improve exponentially.""In terms of improvement, features like App Control do not work properly""Sometimes I found the GUI and some of the features a little bit hard to navigate, as opposed to Fortigate, which is much more user-friendly.""The content ID needs to be improved.""The scalability is something that should be improved.""They are not ready for managed security services. Their Cloud GMS product is weak, barely out of beta (buggy)."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"When we are fighting against other competitors for customers, whether it is a small or big business, we feel very comfortable with the price that Firepower has today.""Pricing is the same as other competitors. It is comparable. The licensing has gotten better. It has been easier with Smart Licensing.""The price of Firepower is not bad compared to other products.""The price is comparable.""The solution was chosen because of its price compared to other similar solutions.""Cisco pricing is premium. However, they gave us a 50 to 60 percent discount.""Cisco, as we all know, is expensive, but for the money you are paying, you know that you are also getting top-notch documentation as well as support if needed.""There are additional implementation and validation costs."

More Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall Pricing and Cost Advice »

"The price is unmatcheable.""Sangfor is cheaper than competing vendors.""When it comes to the price of firewall solutions, Sangfor NGAF takes the cake."

More Sangfor NGAF Pricing and Cost Advice »

"A firewall doing anti-spam might be a low cost solution, but it is not your best strategy.""The CPUs are not able to compete with a similar price point to the Fortinet, WatchGuard, or Palo Alto product.""It would be better if it has a better price, but its price is okay considering the benefits that you receive.""We are on a three-year license for the solution. The price is inexpensive compared to other solutions.""Licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis, and we are happy with the pricing.""There is a license required for this solution and you can purchase a one, two, or three year term. Typically businesses choose the one year subscription and then later choose the three year licensing option if they are satisfied.""They do have the option to purchase yearly, or two years, and three years renewal.""The price is reasonable for what it does."
