We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"If you compare the ASA and the FirePOWER, the best feature with FirePOWER is easy to use GUI. It has most of the same functionality in the Next-Generation FirePOWER, such as IPS, IPS policies, security intelligence, and integration and identification of all the devices or hardware you have in your network. Additionally, this solution is user-friendly.""Provides good integrations and reporting.""The customer service/technical support is very good with this solution.""When it comes to the integration among Cisco tools, we find it easy. It's a very practical integration with other components as well.""The most valuable feature that Cisco Firepower NGFW provides for us is the Intrusion policy.""Being able to determine our active users vs inactive users has led us to increased productivity through visibility. Also, if an issue was happening with our throughput, then we wouldn't know without research. Now, notifications are more proactively happening.""The Adversity Malware Protection (AMP) feature is the most valuable. It is also very easy to use. Every technical user can operate this solution without any difficulty. The dashboard of Cisco Firepower has every tool that a security operator needs. You can find every resource that you need to operate through this dashboard.""The dashboard is the most important thing. It provides good visibility and makes management easy. Firepower also provides us with good application visibility and control."

"Offers the right amount of control without being incredibly convoluted and frustrating.""The most valuable features are security and technical support.""Good site categorization and application controls.""It's been very easy to implement and deploy.""I like the firewall product, the security server, and the content filter.""SonicWall TZ is a stable product.""Good VPN connection.""The installation is straightforward and took approximately 30 minutes."

"I like their firewall and the intrusion detection feature""A valuable feature involves the solution's manageability.""The most useful aspect of the solution is the concept of integrated security.""Sophos began with a basic version and evolved into something more efficient in terms of performance.""Good security and a good interface.""The feature that we find most valuable is the VPN, which ensures that people working remotely have a secure connection.""The solution has all the security features you would need for any type of environment.""The installation is easy. There is a wizard that can be used for a single connection making it simple and if you have multiple connections you can configure it manually."

Cons
"The initial setup was a bit complex. It wasn't a major challenge, but due to our requirements and network, it was not very straightforward but still easy enough.""One of the few things that are brought up is that for the overall management, it would be great to have a cloud instance of that. And not only just a cloud instance, but one of the areas that we've looked at is using an HA type of cloud. To have the ability to have a device file within a cloud. If we had an issue with one, the other one would pick up automatically.""The Firepower FTD code is missing some old ASA firewalls codes. It's a small thing. But Firepower software isn't missing things that are essential, anymore.""When you make any changes, irrespective of whether they are big or small, Firepower takes too much time. It is very time-consuming. Even for small changes, you have to wait for 60 seconds or maybe more, which is not good. Similarly, when you have many IPS rules and policies, it slows down, and there is an impact on its performance.""The configuration in Firepower Management Center is very slow. Deployment takes two to three minutes. You spend a lot of time on modifications. Whereas, in FortiGate, you press a button, and it takes one second.""In a future release, it would be ideal if they could offer an open interface to other security products so that we could easily connect to our own open industry standard.""Its interface is sometimes is a little bit slow, and it can be improved. When you need to put your appliance in failover mode, it is a little difficult to do it remotely because you need to turn off the appliance in Cisco mode. In terms of new features, it would be good to have AnyConnect VPN with Firepower. I am not sure if it is available at the moment.""There is limited data storage on the appliance itself. So, you need to ship it out elsewhere in order for you to store it. The only point of consideration is around that area, basically limited storage on the machine and appliance. Consider logging it elsewhere or pushing it out to a SIEM to get better controls and manipulation over the data to generate additional metrics and visibility."

More Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall Cons »

"The dashboard needs to be improved.""The stability could be a lot better.""We have been facing issues with reporting.""Its reporting can be improved. Currently, we cannot directly get the user names. It only shows the IP, which makes it a bit confusing because we need to use the IP to find the user. If we could directly get the name of the user, it would be better.""GUI interface could be improved.""It could be made more user friendly.""We have experienced some issues with SonicWall TZ and they are lacking some advanced features other vendors have.""The VPN that is available in the new version is a bit bulky and slower in speed."

More SonicWall TZ Cons »

"Lacking network access control, user profiling and analytics dashboards.""Even though things work on the back end, we have encountered bugs in the solution.""The weakest point is the technical support because they are difficult to get into contact with.""I would like to see in future releases a tool to scan for malicious packets and give the location of where they are coming from.""Some of the firewall rules are complicated for us to understand, they should be simplified.""The initial setup is not straightforward.""Technical support could be improved. They aren't as responsive as they could be.""Inability to investigate incidents, there is no tracking."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"There are additional implementation and validation costs.""When we are fighting against other competitors for customers, whether it is a small or big business, we feel very comfortable with the price that Firepower has today.""Cisco pricing is premium. However, they gave us a 50 to 60 percent discount.""The price is comparable.""It definitely competes with the other vendors in the market.""The price for Firepower is more expensive than FortiGate. The licensing is very complex. We usually ask for help from Solutel because of its complexity. I have a Cisco account where I can download the VPN client, then connect. Instead, I create an issue with Solutel, then Solutel solves the case.""This product is expensive.""Pricing is the same as other competitors. It is comparable. The licensing has gotten better. It has been easier with Smart Licensing."

"It has a yearly subscription.""The license that we purchased is good for three years.""Its pricing is okay as compared to other solutions.""It is a bit expensive. We have to purchase the license and the reporting part separately, which makes it a bit pricey. This is the main reason why we have thought of moving to another firewall. It would be good if they combine both of these.""The price is fair for the solution for the quality you receive.""The price could be better for us in Bolivia.""Customers are required to pay for a yearly subscription.""The price is high compared to some other solutions."

More SonicWall TZ Pricing and Cost Advice »

"At first, I thought the price was very high. But when I read about the machine's features, we decided to go with it.""There is a license required for this solution that is priced well and all the features are included.""When you compare with Barracuda, Sophos is quite a bit cheaper.""I don't think that it is expensive when you compare it with other solutions available on the market.""The pricing is economical.""Licensing fees are on a yearly basis.""The price is fair.""I paid for a license for the solution for three years costing approximately $11,000. Additionally, I received the Web Appliance fee for paying for the full licencing."
