We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"I like how Veeam intuitively integrates with Zerto.""It is a flexible, simple, and scalable software-based solution. It has agentless functionality with specific hypervisors and agent-based functionality with specific operating systems. It gives you the flexibility to use your own hardware and back up physical Windows, Linux, IBM AIX, and Oracle Solaris systems as well as VMware VMs, Hyper-V VMs, and Nutanix VMs from one console. It also has integration with major applications that most companies are using, such as Active Directory, SQL, Exchange, or SharePoint. It has integrations, not just for the backup on the image, host layer, or hypervisor, but also for performing an application-consistent backup. It is helpful in backing up to the tape, cloud, DR site, etc. It is really flexible. It is really amazing that you can restore any backup on VMware, Azure, or AWS. As compared to the other solutions in the market. Veeam has really integrated a lot in the past years. It has the best performance and perfect replication.""Very user-friendly and easily recoverable.""I can't think of any improvements yet for Veeam because they are very good. It integrates very well with Microsoft applications. It is very easy to integrate. Micro Focus can also integrate but it's more complex. You have to know the product very well to be able to integrate. While Veeam, it's very user-friendly. You don't need to have certifications or anything to work on Veeam.""Its backup capabilities in general are great.""It's a pretty complete product.""One of the most valuable features is the simplicity of the solution's administration.""Its stability and scalability were the main reasons for going for this solution. It is highly scalable, and its stability is also powerful. It has a friendly interface, and its monitoring and performance are the best in the market."

"It is easy to use, and you can run it with all kinds of client software environments. It works well with the most popular software, file systems, and operating systems. It is very useful to us.""It has been around for so long, and it is very in-depth. It has a solution for everything that you can cover.""The solution is stable.""The solution is easy to scale.""This product is flexible enough to allow for backing up data from physical machines, as well as from your cloud environment.""The most valuable feature is the trouble-free operation, as we have not had many problems with it.""Veritas released a new feature in version 8 of NetBackup called VRP. It's kind of like replication management from VMware. The great thing about this feature is that Veritas gave it to us for free.""The most valuable feature is the disaster recovery functionality."

Cons
"Device backup could be improved.""The ability to do more backups should be addressed.""Even though the speed has improved over the years, I think that there are some instances where it still takes a while.""It's hard to answer because managing cloud storage in our version could be better, but now that they have improved it in the recent version, I cannot say it's a better point because I know it should be already fixed.""The data duplication should be improved.""Veeam Backup Replication could improve by having better integration with the cloud. Additionally, they do not have direct integration to S3 or Azure storage for the backups of the VMs. This feature would be beneficial because we have to go through the scalable repository which I do not like.""I prefer a software backup solution that allows me to easily define my origin data, including data files, folders, and virtual machines.""I would like to see better features for exporting to cloud-based repositories."

More Veeam Backup & Replication Cons »

"The solution is not that stable because it has to be monitored and administered every day. The stability could be improved.""The solution is quite expensive.""The solution could improve by having a feature to backup iSeries workloads.""The database integration could be better.""Support for the solution needs improvement.""The implementation process could be simplified to make it quicker.""In terms of improvement, it's very difficult to make it work with multiple business units. Its security model is too constricted.""It would be extremely helpful if the solution offered near-zero recovery time for SQL."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"Its pricing is really good.""We pay on an annual basis. We pay roughly $12,000 for our software subscription.""We have a yearly perpetual license.""This product is not cheap, but it's well worth the cost.""The price is reasonable.""We are happy with the pricing and we pay for licensing on a subscription basis.""We have increased our scalability while being able to free up senior resources from recovery activities. I estimate our overall savings to about $20,000 per year.""It is relatively cheap."

More Veeam Backup & Replication Pricing and Cost Advice »

"Price-wise, most of the backup products are similarly priced, and NetBackup is the same.""Its price is quite reasonable. The cost depends on the depreciation and the volume. It also depends on the infrastructure. If your infrastructure increases, you would need some more licenses.""Pricing is good, under our budget, and flexible.""It is very expensive. The licensing cost for this solution is on a yearly basis. It is approximately 50k. We will continue using it at least for the next year, but we are currently doing an analysis to switch to some other solution.""We purchased a perpetual license and perform SMS renewals.""It was on a yearly basis. During the annual review, when we asked them about our licensing, they couldn't explain it. For example, we had reduced by a factor of 40%, but our license only dropped by 5%. We would then ask Veritas people if we've reduced this much and shut down these servers, why has our license changed so less? They were never able to give us a straight answer. They weren't able to say, "Well, you're using this, and this is more expensive." In many cases, as we reduced our capacity and what we were using with Veritas NetBackup, our licensing actually went up, and they were often unable to explain why.""A better price would make this product more competitive.""The pricing, of course, can always be better."
