We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The flexibility is very good.""Compression is the most valuable feature.""It is responding very well, and its performance is good. It has a lot of options. For backup, you can connect it to a cloud or a physical hard drive. They also provide an API for integration with different platforms and products. However, we have not integrated it with another product.""The backup potential of the solution is very good. It's protected us in the past very well and allowed us to get up and running after an attack with minimal loss.""The ease-of-use in general is great.""Veritas is good for small environments.""I have found the overall features of the solution very good and there is the option to backup to the cloud.""It's quite stable, and so far, we have had no technical issues with Veritas Backup Exec."

"The solution is stable.""It supports multiple, heterogeneous platforms.""The main thing I like about NetBackup is CloudPoint. You can take a snapshot of the endpoint and back it up with CloudPoint. The data backups are the most important.""The most valuable feature is the disaster recovery functionality.""The most valuable feature is flexibility.""This product is flexible enough to allow for backing up data from physical machines, as well as from your cloud environment.""It is very easy to back up and recover files compared to other products.""The most valuable features are the VMware VADP backups and the support for data domains."

Cons
"The pricing could be improved.""It could be improved in the area of reporting and ease-of-use.""The integration with SaaS applications like Office 365 needs to be improved.""Something within the software itself isn't quite right. There may be a bug or glitch. It will work fine for weeks and then all of a sudden it just tanks.""There is no training provided, and their technicians are unaware of the features available.""If you keep it for too long and the catalog gets really big, the application tends to move slowly.""The pricing is an area of improvement and the mode of marketing it.""The backup is not robust enough when you have a lot of technology."

More Veritas Backup Exec Cons »

"It should be able to integrate with the cloud. If we leverage a cloud in the future for backup, there should be very fast help and more options for customers to choose from.""NetBackup is expensive and should be cheaper. That is why we are moving on to another solution.""When the customer is using SaaS applications like Office 365, the integration falls short and needs to be improved.""The speed of restoring data could be improved.""In regards to protecting the physical servers with parameters, it's a long and difficult process.""It was very complicated, and it required a lot of work in terms of management. We have moved to Rubrik. One of the reasons for getting rid of Veritas NetBackup was the fact that at one point, we had the support staff with 12 to 15 people to manage Veritas NetBackup, whereas, with Rubrik, I'm the only one managing Rubrik. There is one more person who works with me mostly due to the fact that in case I'm not around, someone else knows what to do, but I'm the only one who is a full-time manager of Rubrik. The complexity of Veritas required a large staff to manage it. We had daily issues that had to be looked into and resolved. A lot of these issues revolved around Veritas' handling of VMware, which is why first we moved VMware off Veritas. After we did that, we were also able to reduce our staff count. Their licensing is a disaster. It is extremely complicated. In most cases, Veritas themselves can't understand their own licensing.""In the next release, I would like to have a better way to protect against ransomware attacks and a better way of logging issues where you don't have to enable the verbose logging to capture the problems.""Like the other enterprise solutions, Veritas NetBackup isn't easy to implement. It's a little bit hard compared to other solutions like Data Protector for HPE. You have to struggle to learn a lot of features that Veritas NetBackup offers to customers."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"It is a mid-range solution on the pricing scale.""The solution could be more cost-effective.""The price is reasonable for the features it offers.""Veritas comes with an annual licensing fee.""The pricing can be improved.""The price of Veritas Backup Exec could be reduced and we pay annually for the license. However, compared to other solutions, such as Veeam, it is less expensive.""There is an evaluation license available to test this solution.""Its price is reasonable."

More Veritas Backup Exec Pricing and Cost Advice »

"Price-wise, most of the backup products are similarly priced, and NetBackup is the same.""In terms of cost, it's not very good.""Licensing fees are charged based on the number of CPU cores.""My licensing model is based on capacity so as we grow, the price we pay increases and it becomes too expensive.""Veritas NetBackup is very expensive, and I think price is the main reason which some customers don't want to use this solution.""It is very expensive. The licensing cost for this solution is on a yearly basis. It is approximately 50k. We will continue using it at least for the next year, but we are currently doing an analysis to switch to some other solution.""The pricing, of course, can always be better.""Veritas NetBackup is considerably cheaper than that of Druva, the former being quite affordable."
