Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Provides dependable DNS monitoring of external devices.""Its simplicity is most valuable. I can install it and get it up and running, and it can be pervasive across my business within a business day. It is pretty simple and straightforward to install and configure. Its remit is reasonably clearly defined. When you look at solutions like Darktrace and Carbon Black, the mission objective isn't as clearly defined. Cisco Umbrella, Sophos Central, or some of the other solutions have a more standardized approach to antivirus, which includes enhanced response from the machine learning or deep learning perspective.""The user interface is great. It's very easy to tailor to our client's environment and needs.""Helps block personal email accounts.""I haven't found any issues related to latency or any other issue.""We've found it to be stable and good for our customers.""The most valuable feature is the ability to block users from reaching places that they should not even try to reach has been a boon.""The initial setup is very easy and takes only a few minutes."

"The installation is easy and doesn't take long. The program speedy and doesn't crash. It doesn't consume computer hardware or software.""When compared with other products, Webroot DNS Protection is the best to secure the end users.""Almost everyone who uses it is happy about the product. I don't get any types of complaints from my clients.""The dashboard of the solution is a valuable feature."

More Webroot DNS Protection Pros →

"The data loss prevention feature is the most valuable. It stops our users from inadvertently leaking our customers' data to the Internet or anywhere else it shouldn't go.""We don't have to buy equipment to use it. And when our engineers set it up on our side, we just configured a few settings and we were in.""The security is excellent.""Zscaler Internet Access protects using data loss prevention. If you have a CASB exposing your cloud out into the network, then Zscaler Internet Access will go ahead and control that unknown cloud application in the CASB, protecting it. There is also data detection with exact data match. This improves the data coming into your cloud so you are protecting it.""The VPN is valuable, as the whole technology is very different from a traditional VPN.""Zscaler Internet Access has helped us reduce the time that we spend managing security policies by about four hours a week. We can use this time to focus on other things, especially the IT team.""For our needs, the cloud-native proxy architecture is a very good solution. We are moving away from on-prem appliances and moving more toward cloud-based solutions. Zscaler is a good fit for our strategy. This architecture helps with cyber threats because we inspect most of the traffic and we can see that a lot of threats are stopped directly in the secure web gateway."

Cons
"It could be more secure. It would be better if they provided a transferring proxy as an add-on and more integration.""The integration with Cisco could be better.""They need to improve analytics so they report on more of the specifics of user activity.""In the future, they should combine some of the Cisco AMP features that they already have, for anti-malware purposes.""It's a very new product, so it's quite immature at the moment. It can be more user friendly.""It could be improved by having a local data center and caching, which can provide protection support. I would like to be able to channel my intel and my network traffic to their clouds, and this feature is not available. Advanced protection or any malware file support, which might be required, is not available.""I would like to see more integration between Cisco Umbrella and Cisco DNA Center.""The pricing is a bit high. Being outside of the USA, we have issues with the exchange rate."

More Cisco Umbrella Cons →

"If the solution could integrate with FortiGate where there would only be a need of one dashboard instead of having to set policies on our firewall and our DNS, this would be helpful.""The reporting system needs improvement. They should make is that we can customize it so we can add, remove or change its interface but they use a template. The reports cannot be changed.""Reporting is not done in real-time. Rather, it is done in 15-minute intervales. This is something that should be configurable by the admin.""It needs to be more secure for production environments."

More Webroot DNS Protection Cons →

"I would like to see more training and video documentation.""I don't know whether it's Zscaler or not, however, sometimes I can't access my time management. I need to wait and try again a few hours later. Typically, if I let some time pass, I can access it again.""One thing that they could improve is the ability to import rules from other platforms.""They could provide more time for the onboarding the training of an IT person.""The reporting functionality could be a bit easier to use. There is a reporting function, but it's quite hard to do any good reporting, from a user-management perspective. For example, if a department manager wants to know how his department is using the web, there is a way to get the data, but it's quite cumbersome to get it and show it well. And that's true for comparing between departments.""There are a few features that are not compatible with the Azure cloud.""An improvement would be if they could provide an out-of-the-box experience, like 20 to 30 features all ready to go. In comparison, LogRhythm offers out-of-the-box features. With Zscaler Internet Access, there is firewall IPS, multiple security services, filtering, DLP, and CASB browser isolation. These are things that all users are going to be using. However, when an administrator or architect would start building this, I would definitely need to engage professional services to help clients do it."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I am not sure, I don't have the numbers in front of me, but I think it's $1.00 or so per device/month."
  • "Cisco uses subscription models for the pricing and there are three subscription plans."
  • "The licensing part for Umbrella is really flexible."
  • "There are three models for licensing with different feature sets."
  • "I think it's worth the money."
  • "The price of Cisco Umbrella is a little higher than similar solutions, like Gateway."
  • "The price should be slightly lower than the current price because if you look at the whole solution, it is simply a threat intelligence solution to block blacklisted things. The price should be lower looking at the features provided by the solution. The price isn't too high either, but it could be lower."
  • "There is a subscription cost."
