What is our primary use case?

Fortinet FortiExtender helps facilitate Fortinet connectivity. When it comes to cell phone towers, you never know what you'll get with global configurations. We use this solution to mitigate switching cell phone towers.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature will be that it works.

What needs improvement?

I would like to see them make it smaller in the next release so that it has a smaller footprint for mobile clients.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is limitless based on your cell and your internet or your cloud connectivity. 

It's similar to any other VPN in terms of how simple it is to set up in a global or extended environment with a large number of clients.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I make use of the entire spectrum. Fortinet was used, as well as FortiClient and Fortinet Signal Extender. They also provide a SIM port for purchase to all customers.

We have a government client who is interested in the entire FortiSystem, for SSL VPNs.

How was the initial setup?

The ease of the setup and integration into the entire Fortinet solution is seamless.

What about the implementation team?

Fortinet offers assistance with the initial setup.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I'm not sure what the cost is. However, I anticipate that the purchase price will range between $2,500 and $5,000.

What other advice do I have?

I believe the Fortinet Extender should be considered alongside other network extension devices. Their solution was pretty good. If you're looking for a reasonably priced solution, Fortinet's solution might be the one for you.

I would rate  Fortinet FortiExtender a nine out of ten.

We use it in our head office.

We haven't implemented all of the features. We are just about to implement the captive portal and the edit to 1X authentication. It's taken us a little bit of time to get there. At the moment we are just using it as an open wireless access point.

What needs improvement?

The solution would be a lot better if it was a little bit more intuitive.

My advice to people looking at the solution is that I think they should buy it.
