We have control over what is actually delivered in our email accounts
Pros and Cons
  • "An effective, functional, very good tool for controlling resources."
  • "Although it is not a tool, video conferencing should be scalable and operate in a professional and efficient way."

What is most valuable?

  • Control
  • Versatility
  • Ease of use
  • Management
  • Costs far less than other solutions.

How has it helped my organization?

We have control over what was actually delivered in our email accounts, allowing us to control and know what was actually sent and received by the company.

Clients have said they sent something and we could not be sure about delivery. It is possible to now perform auditing with other great advantages, such as: resource calendar (Auditoriums and meeting rooms), centralized company email lists, chat, team chat, web documents, and other tools.

What needs improvement?

Although it is not a tool, video conferencing should be scalable and operate in a professional and efficient way.

For how long have I used the solution?

Three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

No, I have 300 accounts (250 active) and it works perfectly.

How are customer service and technical support?

Effective.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

No.

How was the initial setup?

Simple setup.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Yes. Exchange and Gmail Accounts.

What other advice do I have?

An effective, functional, very good tool for controlling resources at a low cost. In my experience, it was 15% of the investment of an exchange.

Working teams of different projects can share information.
Pros and Cons
  • "The groupware module is the most valuable feature."
  • "Although the documentation is extensive and in depth, you must familiarize yourself with it before taking full advantage of the product."

What is most valuable?

The groupware module is the most valuable feature.

How has it helped my organization?

It makes sharing of information between working teams of different projects very easy and fast, whether they are local or abroad.

What needs improvement?

Although the documentation is extensive and in depth, you must familiarize yourself with it before taking full advantage of the product.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used it for almost eight years.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

The deployment, and the version updates / upgrades, are straightforward and with no issue. Even the initial conversion from 602LAN SUITE happened overnight.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability is excellent.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We are currently investigating its scalability.

How are customer service and technical support?

Customer Service:

Customer service is not always helpful. They avoid to provide needed information related with proper schema layout during database conversion from mssql to mysql. As the binding between groupware and database data is crucial the project took more than expected because we had to reverse engineer the conversion.

Technical Support:

Technical support is acceptable in some cases. But we suspect that they don't have in depth documentation.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used Exchange and 602LAN SUITE. We switched to IceWarp because of it provides value for the money.

How was the initial setup?

Initial setup was very easy and straightforward. We even took advantage of the trial period, to minimize risk and at the same time train users.

What about the implementation team?

The implementation was done by an in-house team, with some help from technical support for the evaluation of the results.

What was our ROI?

As the license of our company is very affordable per year and per user, and considering the almost-zero administration needs, I would say that the cost is returned in the first three months, compared to other solutions.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Pricing and licensing is very competitive and in some cases, cheap.

What other advice do I have?

If the inhouse knowledge is not available and the application is important for your business, get contract support .

It offers cross-platform communication solutions.

What is most valuable?

IceWarp offers very extended cross-platform communication solutions. For us as a hosting provider, that makes it the perfect platform to use. We can help any customer that contacts us with any question.

How has it helped my organization?

IceWarp is very open. That way, we were able to integrate it into our Hosting Control Panel, which makes it very easy to use for our customers.

What needs improvement?

There are some feature improvements possible the way we use it as a hosting provider, but for most we currently have workarounds.

As with any communication suite, it's important that IceWarp keeps making the right choices and maybe partnerships to keep delivering perfect and high-end solutions.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been a customer for almost 15 years now.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

IceWarp is always ready to help. When there are big changes pending, we always contact and discuss them first to avoid issues.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Over the 15 years, there have of course been bugs/issues on our server, but we were always able to rely on IceWarp. There have been some bugs that were difficult to find, but together we found and fixed them!

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We are a customer for 15 years and we have been able to grow perfectly together with IceWarp.

How are customer service and technical support?

Customer Service:

I always have a response within the day, no matter who I contact. If there's a bigger issue, the person contacts me by the phone so we can easily talk it over.

Technical Support:

I always have a response within the day through the helpdesk and, if needed, there are remote sessions where we can describe our issues and talk about them.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

IceWarp is still our first love.

How was the initial setup?

It was a very straightforward setup.

What about the implementation team?

We implemented it all ourselves.

Server storage is based on individual files corresponding to each email.

What is most valuable?

The email server is valuable

How has it helped my organization?

It is a very reliable server with powerful features, and the administration tools are straightforward. The email storage on the server is based on individual files corresponding to each email; that facilitates the tasks of backup and restore operations.

What needs improvement?

The database query for creating new database and querying about activities are too simplistic. Built-in help inside the administration interface about converting from "file system" to "database", and about creation of database options, is recommended

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used it for eight years.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

There are very good manuals online for deployment, upgrade and migration of servers. In my experience, I had no issues at all. Compared to other collaboration/email servers, including Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino, I classify IceWarp as one of the easiest to deploy.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability and reliability in all services is excellent.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have not encountered any scalability issues.

How are customer service and technical support?

I needed online support for 2 or 3 times and they were timely, responsive, and helpful. I give them 9/10.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino in my previous jobs at different organizations. IceWarp is much simpler for administration and provides a better price/performance ratio for the required features in the current workplace. I think that Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino are more suited for large organizations requiring particular, sophisticated features.

What about the implementation team?

Implementation was done in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

If you have a small to medium business and you require a professional collaboration server that focuses on the main services of emails and calendar scheduling, I recommend IceWarp. It is much more cost effective than other known solutions and especially a better choice than the online, per-month lease services.

Excellent product. Easy to use and good support
We have used IceWarp for years. As the CEO of the company I love the product and the support provided by the staff. We do not require a dedicated IT person to manage the IceWarp implementation and day to day operations. When we have a problem we can request support a get a quick response and helpful problem solving. I highly recommend the product and the company. My suggestion is that they continue to include spam filtering as part of the product and not something that is purchased as part of the maintenance package. From an ROI perspective the maintenance package is too costly.

Great easy to use product
I have used IceWarp for email since 2002. 11 years later, I can honestly say that I remain a happy customer. I am a Microsoft Certified Exchange administrator, and as such, also maintain an exchange environment for a couple of businesses. IceWarp is easy to install and maintain. It provides several enhancements over exchange. It is extremely easy when you compare it to the complexity of Microsoft Exchange. In fact, it is easy to add a new domain and be ready to go without the hassle, and without the licensing complexity. I use this to host about 100 domains with somewhere around 300 email accounts. The software is up to date and maintained by the vendor.
