Scalable and reliable with a straightforward setup
Pros and Cons
  • "The antivirus feature is very, very good."
  • "It would be nice if it was less expensive."

What is our primary use case?

We're using the solution primarily for protection and security. We use it for malware protection.

What is most valuable?

The antivirus feature is very, very good. It offers us good protection.

The solution is quite stable. It's reliable.

The scalability of the solution is excellent.

We have found the installation to be very quick and very straightforward.

What needs improvement?

The price of the solution is a bit high. It would be nice if it was less expensive. We're using a lot of devices, and therefore the costs add up.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for the last two years or so. It's been a while.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution offers very good stability. It's reliable. The performance is good. It doesn't crash or freeze. There are no bugs or glitches. We haven't had any problems with it.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have more than 1,000 users on the solution currently.

We've found the scalability to be quite good so far.

We likely will increase usage in the future.

How are customer service and technical support?

We've reached out to technical support in the past. We've found them to be quite good. They are helpful and responsive. We're satisfied with the level of service they provide to us.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not too difficult or overly complex. The implementation, for the most part, is straightforward, and the deployment is quick. It doesn't take much more than five minutes.

What about the implementation team?

We handled the implementation ourselves, in-house. We did not need the assistance of any integrator or consultant.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution can be a bit pricy. Especially if you have to cover many devices, it can get expensive. The price compounds.

What other advice do I have?

We are using the latest version of the solution. I cannot recall the version number off-hand.

We use multiple deployment versions, including on-premises and cloud versions.

I would recommend the solution to other companies.

I'd rate the solution at an eight out of ten. We've been pretty happy with its capabilities in general.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Efficient solution with good performance
Pros and Cons
  • "Endpoint Security is efficient and easy to use. It doesn't slow the performance of your personal computer."
  • "Kaspersky could be improved by better malware protection. They have to take advantage of Malwarebytes and integrate the same engine inside Kaspersky. I use Malwarebytes as well because Kaspersky doesn't always detect malware."

What is our primary use case?

My primary use case is for threat protection.

What is most valuable?

Endpoint Security is efficient and easy to use. It doesn't slow the performance of your personal computer.

What needs improvement?

Kaspersky could be improved by better malware protection. They have to take advantage of Malwarebytes and integrate the same engine inside Kaspersky. I use Malwarebytes as well because Kaspersky doesn't always detect malware.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for five or six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This solution is stable and the performance is good. There isn't much maintenance required, so you can manage by yourself, especially if you have experience in technical support, security, and Kaspersky. I think Kaspersky should have some type of free training to gain more traction in the market.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There are around 500 people in my organization using Kaspersky.

How are customer service and support?

I have never contacted technical support. As an IT professional, I have handled everything myself.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I use Malwarebytes because it's the best malware product.

In the past, I have also used McAfee, Trend Micro, and Norton. We shifted to Kaspersky when it was introduced to the market. Both the companies I work for use Kaspersky.

How was the initial setup?

Kaspersky is very easy to install. It took about five minutes. Endpoint Security has an SaaS version for Windows, a software upgrade service. Installation is easy and the documentation Kaspersky provides is very good.

What about the implementation team?

I implemented this solution myself.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I prefer paying for a yearly license because it has some discounts. One of the companies I work for pays for the Business Select license, for 100 users.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Kaspersky a nine out of ten. Many products tend to be a bit weak. For example, sometimes when you use the Windows operating system, it works for six months, then you have to reinstall it again or restore an image and then start working with it. It's not like Linux. Kaspersky is the best, one of the top three in the world, and I would definitely recommend it to others who are considering implementation.

For an antivirus product, I used to use McAfee. However, I had some information stolen from my computer and therefore I had to change products. It didn't protect me very well.

How was the initial setup?

I did not handle the installation process. There's another team that manages that aspect of the solution. Therefore, I can't comment directly on how easy or difficult it was to implement.

There is a systems manager that handles any maintenance that may be required.

What about the implementation team?

We had a team that handled it internally.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

You do have to pay for a license. We pay a yearly licensing fee. I can't speak to the exact cost, however.

I've never dealt with technical support directly. I can't comment on their level of service or responsiveness, having never dealt with them directly myself.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was not complex or difficult for us. It was very simple and very straightforward. A company shouldn't have any issues with the solution's setup.

The deployment was quick. It only took us about three or so days.

We are using the latest version of the solution at this time. I cannot speak to the exact version number.

I'd rate the solution at an eight out of ten. We've been mostly quite happy with the product and how it has performed for us.

I'd recommend the solution to other users.

Many functions and features, best for medium size business and up
Pros and Cons
  • "We have had no troubles installing, maintaining, or deploying the product for our clients."
  • "There are many improvements needed, such as faster responses, faster notification, and immediate reports."

What is our primary use case?

We used the solution to protect as against computer viruses.

How has it helped my organization?

We currently have had to move to another solution because we require faster response times and more advanced features other competitors offer.

What is most valuable?

The functions are very good and they have many different features that are available.

What needs improvement?

This solution needs to improve and get up to date with some of the new EDR technology anti-virus software available. There are many improvements needed, such as faster responses, faster notification, and immediate reports.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the product for 10 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable product.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

If the company is big, more than 100 staff with different branches, this solution is good but for small companies, I think it's not very appropriate.

How are customer service and technical support?

We have used support from Kaspersky China. They offer support through email and phone of which they provide a good service, fast response, and an overall professional resolution.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We now use Symantec End-user Endpoint Security software as our anti-virus protection solution. We opted to change software because of the current security risk our digital data faces, we needed a more robust solution.

How was the initial setup?

The installation was not a problem.

What about the implementation team?

We have had no troubles installing, maintaining, or deploying the product for our clients. For others, the deployment could take more time and might require professionals to do the job.

What was our ROI?

It would be a benefit for this solution to have better-advanced features, less maintenance required for operation, and faster response times.

What other advice do I have?

Due to the current increased global security risks on digital data we have had to search for an alternative solution.

I would have given the solution a ten out of ten a few years ago but they need to improve and provide more features as their competitors.

I rate Kaspersky Endpoint Security an eight out of ten.

Good endpoint protection and easy to install
Pros and Cons
  • "One of the most valuable features of this product is that it's good for endpoint protection."
  • "This product could be improved by integration with Linux. The one limitation this product has is that it's not compatible with and doesn't offer protection for Linux servers. It could also be easier to configure."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case is for protecting our desktops and critical servers. This solution is deployed on-premises.

What is most valuable?

One of the most valuable features of this product is that it's good for endpoint protection.

What needs improvement?

This product could be improved by integration with Linux. The one limitation this product has is that it's not compatible with and doesn't offer protection for Linux servers. It could also be easier to configure.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for six to seven years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Our organization has approximately 500 users of this solution.

How are customer service and support?

We have local support that we contact in case of any issues. If local support is unable to resolve it, then we connect the issue to Kaspersky.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We haven't used any other solutions. We have used Kaspersky from the beginning.

How was the initial setup?

The installation was easy, all you need to do is install it with the installer. The configuration is a bit tricky, though. You can do it yourself if you are knowledgeable in this area, but if not, you may need help from the vendor. We had a team of three or four who handled deployment, in addition to the support we received from the vendor.

Installation time will depend on the organization since each organization will have different things to configure. It should take somewhere between half an hour to an hour to configure, but it depends on the size of the organization.

What about the implementation team?

We implemented through an in-house team, but had vendor support.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We pay for licensing annually.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We also evaluated Rapid7's AppSpider product, which is an application vulnerability scanning solution. We had done the POC, but we had issues with the licensing model, so we dropped it.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Kaspersky an eight out of ten. I would 100% recommend Kaspersky to others who are considering implementation.

Has good heuristic analysis but it should offer the ability to change what to whitelist for a specific user
Pros and Cons
  • "Endpoint Security's most valuable feature is its heuristic analysis. This heuristic approach means that it learns from its past experiences. It is the most valuable feature they have. This contributes to dealing with ransomware, detection, and early mitigation actions."
  • "A big improvement would be allowing us to reconfigure the agents and change what to whitelist for a specific user. If the user is not happy with the configuration and is being blocked from certain sites, we should be able to reconfigure the monitoring mechanics to make it more flexible."

What is most valuable?

Endpoint Security's most valuable feature is its heuristic analysis. This heuristic approach means that it learns from its past experiences. It is the most valuable feature they have. This contributes to dealing with ransomware, detection, and early mitigation actions.

What needs improvement?

We do high profile work, meaning agent analysis. Sometimes users complain that we can't access a particular website. A big improvement would be allowing us to reconfigure the agents and change what to whitelist for a specific user. If the user is not happy with the configuration and is being blocked from certain sites, we should be able to reconfigure the monitoring mechanics to make it more flexible. In other words, we should be able to monitor what is vulnerable and critical in order to assess access to a particular website.

Additionally, it would be helpful if they could provide us with a tech report generation mechanism.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Kaspersky Endpoint Security for one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have three people in our team dedicated to ongoing security management with Kaspersky Endpoint Security.

How are customer service and technical support?

Yes, I have been in touch with support. Our issues are handled by the global support. I am satisfied with them. They are good.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward. It takes about two or three weeks to deploy.

What about the implementation team?

As I mentioned, we have allocated three people to manage the solution. That way, if someone in the team is unavailable another person can manage customer queries and management issues.

What other advice do I have?

Kaspersky is actually not the most perfect product in the industry. There are many other products available depending on your purposes. Defining your purpose is the most important thing when deciding what product to implement. For middle management, it might be Endpoint Security. It is the customer's call. Customers must evaluate the scope of their business needs before implementation.

One a scale of one to ten, I would rate Kaspersky Endpoint Security a seven.

Good admin capabilities, helpful against zero-day attacks, and reliable
Pros and Cons
  • "The admin capabilities are great."
  • "The solution could use better reporting."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution as a traditional antivirus for signature-based activities such as malware or infections. It's for employing remediation and prevention detection.

What is most valuable?

The admin capabilities are great.

I have found the solution to be stable.

The product can scale as needed.

What needs improvement?

The solution could use better reporting. We'd like to have a bit more than just a dashboard and a few pie charts.

We're looking at EDRs, and MDRs, and SLRs and stuff like that. If they had integrations with something like a Dark Trace or more native integrations, either through an open API or something, that would probably be ideal for us in terms of the direction we're taking.

For how long have I used the solution?

It's an inherited system, so it's been here for more than four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is good enough. I haven't had issues with bugs or glitches. I can't recall it crashing or freezing. it's pretty reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution has the capability to scale if you need it to.

We have about 550 users on the product currently. It's used across most departments, except for a few.

How was the initial setup?

It was an inherited solution. It was already here when I became employed. Therefore, I can't speak to the implementation process.

What other advice do I have?

I'm just a customer and an end-user.

In terms of the versions we are using, on the administration side, it's Admin Security Center 13 and on the endpoint side, for the actual work stations and server, it's 11.6.

I would rate the solution at a seven out of ten. Like all endpoint antiviruses, it does a fair job on zero-day attacks. Obviously, with the next-day attacks, it's going to do more. That's where its strengths are.

I would advise new users to stick with the traditional approach of having a business case and a use case and then doing a proof of concept.
