Hi,

We all know it's really hard to get good pricing and cost information.

Please share what you can so you can help your peers.

It is slightly more expensive than Commvault, but it is pretty much the same. It is an enterprise solution, so it scales quite well. It has a lot of features. So, you pay for what you get. It is not cheap, but it is fit for the purpose.

The price is reasonable. We purchased a perpetual license and perform SMS renewals.

In Veritas, I'm hoping for a better price. Veritas NetBackup is very expensive, and I think price is the main reason which some customers don't want to use this solution.

Our license is capacity-based.

The pricing is high. They need to work to make it lower or more competitive. Our customers directly purchase the license.

There is a license required for this solution and it is priced based upon the data used.

NetBackup is expensive. They need to work on the pricing side. I find it comparatively on the higher side when I compare the terabyte backup costs.

I think a complete license costs some $70,0000 a year. I wouldn't know the breakdown of what each feature costs.

Its price is quite reasonable. The cost depends on the depreciation and the volume. It also depends on the infrastructure. If your infrastructure increases, you would need some more licenses.

When you compare NetBackup's software licensing system with Veeam's, which is simpler and based on instances (or how many physical machines or virtual machines you want to protect), NetBackup isn't that competitive for smaller scale companies. However, if you're running many large workloads, then NetBackup may be the better option.

Price-wise, most of the backup products are similarly priced, and NetBackup is the same. There is perhaps a 10% difference in price between solutions.

The solution is pretty expensive, which is why it's important to do proper sizing and capacity planning, so that you aren't buying more than you need.

We pay on an annual basis. There are some additional costs to the standard licensing fees, but they're all optional. The pricing, of course, can always be better.

In terms of cost, it's not very good. I would rate it a five or six out of ten. They want everything to be sales and money.

A better price would make this product more competitive.

It is very expensive. The licensing cost for this solution is on a yearly basis. It is approximately 50k. We will continue using it at least for the next year, but we are currently doing an analysis to switch to some other solution.

We are happy with the pricing that we have, but it's expensive.

I don't know the licensing costs off the top of my head, but it's pretty high compared to other solutions out there. There are also additional costs for things like support.

Licensing fees are charged based on the number of CPU cores.

My licensing model is based on capacity so as we grow, the price we pay increases and it becomes too expensive.

It's expensive when comparing to other solutions on the market.

I find the cost of this solution to be high. The licensing is done based on the size of the source. If you have a source size of one terabyte then they will charge for a one terabyte license, although what is actually being stored is much less. This is something that they can improve on.

I am aware of the list pricing. It can be quite high if your company has a lot of storage. It's licensed on a per terabyte basis. Depending on how many terabytes you have, that will ultimately determine the cost. There aren't any additional costs beyond the per terabyte pricing.

I don't have the actual figures at the moment, but this is a costly product. Additional expenses would come in when other devices are integrated to the backup solution in that tape library.

Compared to other solutions, such as Dell EMC's Avamar, the solution is reasonably priced. We've got a simple payment scheme set up where most of the features and the product itself are included in one single cost. It's quite straight forward in terms of pricing.
